What works wonders for one person, could just agrivate another

I find the PP great because it's impossible to use the creams if his skin is wet. It drys it up, so I can then use the creams to keep him soft. I know it sounds a bit mad... drying out skin with eczema!

Eczema is hereditary, so I blame my OH! LOL

    Author: meandmyboys
Subject: 35382
Posted: 23 August 2010 at 10:40am

Hi Milliemoo,
Has your little boys always had excema or just developed it recently? My little guy had a dry patch on the top of his chest so I took him to docs and he prescribed fatty cream which made it worse and then emuslifying cream which made it worse again. I got some Weleda excema cream from the health shop and this made it even worse, it developed into a rash all over his tum and back too! So thought I would leave it a couple of days with nothing and it cleared a bit and tried some aqueous cream last night as it seemed very dry and that seemed to go OK. So wondering whether to try PP like you recommend or whether to just leave it or use aqueous cream. Its just doing my head in though trying to figure out what is causing it! Did you dermatologist make any suggestions why it appears ?

It really super cheap too. $6 for a pot that will last for months. You only need a wee speck of the crystals to mix with water.

My dermatologist wanted to try this route before worrying about any food allergies/intolerances, as apparently that's not all that likely.

Definitely try the PP though. I noticed a change within hours!

Roo has horrible weeping eczema and ended up on antibiotics and a strong oral steriod. The steriod cleared his skin in 3/4 days. It was amazing, but unfortunately only a temporary effect. We saw a dermatologist this week who suggested the Potassium Permangante crystals. They've worked like a charm and have stopped the weeping so the fatty cream I use to keep him moisturised can do it's job (before it would just slide off his face!).

Anyhoo, just wanted to mention this, in case some other bubbas are having trouble with weeping eczema

ETA all you do is dissolve a teeny tiny amount of the crystals in some water and use it as a compress for a few minutes, up to 3 x day.

Edited by Milliemoo
