That's a great idea! I've often considered it as I really want my girls to learn about volunteer work in the community. i used to do this - contact Age Concern - they have an accredited visitor programme and will hook you up with someone nearby that sounds like a good fit. I am a buddie for and IHC person and my kids get to be involved also. You could ring your local volunteer centre and see if they have anything like that that they could connect you with, or just ring a rest home.
Hopice and palliative care services have volunteer programmes too where u can visit a person in their home for company, or go to the hospice day centre.

I do meals on meals once a month. DD loves doing that with me. We pick the meals up from the hospital, and deliver to about 8 people. Takes abour 40 mins.

I have thought of doing this too! Old people love company as sometimes, sadly, family don't visit, or not as much as they'd like!

Im not a volenteer but when i visit my nana in the resthome she always drags DD & I around to visit all her friends, they all love Taylah. Sometimes we can be visiting for over an hour.

I think its a great idea. You will find old people love babies.

Does anyone do volunteer work at a rest home? I've always thought I wouldn't mind doing something like this and go and visit someone who doesn't have any family nearby (or who have family who don't visit them) and just go and chat to them once a week or play cards or read to them etc etc.
Even someone who doesn't have grandkids or something and I could take DD with me.
