We are going to the >GP today for test results but it did show up dairy, egg white and peanuts

Iceland - we got the hair test done which showed up an intolerance to wheat.

ETA: Forgot to say that the RAST is repeated each year so you know if/when they grow out of an allergy.

as to the reability of skin prics we were told bit different story and that is that the allergies (eventhought the little one might well be allergic) do not always manifest themselved on the test when too young ... we were said that if better from 1 year of age.
and it was our case, my daughter was tested with no signs of response at 3 months but she was accually allergic already at that time and as symptoms continued when retested at 12 months there was a"bag full" of reactions....
well, im keeping my fingers crossed that she might outgrow some allergies ...

but you are right they are quite harmless and the little ones dont seem to mind and still they might give chances to find our the causes of allergic reactions.

we got told they arent reliable simply because they often grow out of them so therefore they might be allergic now but not later if you know what i mean..the actual test is quite reliable.. and harmless and easily done and they dont seem to mind when they are little.. HI there,
oh great to hear that your little one is better...
the poo problem was like you were talking about my daughter now 1.
this im convinced is definitely dairy reaction.
My daughter had reactions from about 4 weeks old and it was very hard to get on top of it.
The problem with skin prick is that they dont always show much especially in younger babies.
Greta was tested in 3 months and didnt have any reaction at all.... and retesting showed several food and other allergies.....and the doc told me that skin prick test are often very unreliable under one year of age.
and even now with dairy, gluten, egg and nut our of her diet her skin condition is still not better...
but at least we are poo reactions free and i so feel with you... it soo hard to see then go through this.

Goood luck with everything and hope your little one doesnt have more allergic reaction as it s so frustrating when they are so little and allergy test supposingly don t always work that well at this age.

Well the consistancy has gone back to normal now but its still very very pale in colour. She 'looks' better too. Thats on the lactose free formula. I guess it will take her body a little bit of time to get back to normal. Huntersmama, I was completely dairy & soy free, definitely free of fish & shellfish & I reacted to them on the skin prick tests. What they do is put a drop of the allergen on the skin & then nick the skin so that it gets under the surface layer. ButterflyMum - We went to a Naturopath and did the hair allergy test which might be a bit alternative for some people but it showed up an intolerance to wheat which is definatley what I saw when he had rusks and farex. He also reacts when I eat wheat so Im cutting it out.

We also got a referral from the paed to get skin sensitivity tests done, but Im not holding out much hope for these. HunterMama how are they doing the allegry tests we have b een told that they usually don't give you a good indication till after the age of 2 we went through all thi with our mikey for his ezhema and ened up with no answer's on the upside he did grow out of whatt ever it was. we are not debating weather or not to do allgery tests on elmily now she is over 2, but worried we will get teh same result with her as we did for mikey and put her through so much.

You could try the lactose free formula or the HA formula you get at the supermarket, if those pooh's continue then you have a good trial already for them to subscribe you either neocate or elecare which are more broken down.

Perhaps try the Lactose free formula that you can get from the supermarket. I think it's S26 that do one. Definitely don't introduce soy as she's too young for it.

My daughter has a dairy allergy and I only noticed the signs when I switched her from BF to formula. Only problem with Neocate is it's so bloody expensive! But they seem to be the only one (that i've seen) that does the specialty formulas. Can you get it perscribed? lol.. I know they sell it at the chemist too.

Right so for the last week Lily has had the runs super bad. Its like, really runny custard colour instead of 'normal' FF baby poo. She's not dehydrating from what I can tell - no normal warning signs, although I have been giving her little bits of water just in case. We went to see the nurse for her 3 month imms - she did poos and the nurse didnt seem concerned about it. Its super eggy as well. Theres no straining, no tummy pain and she's not crying afterwards.
What my question to you is - because Thomas is lactose intollerant like his dad, could Lily be developing the same thing? I dont recall him having this problem from such an early age - I think he was over 1 before I realised that yoghurt etc was upsetting his tummy.
Should I just swap her to a dairy free formula to see if that makes a difference? How long after changing does it start helping? I mean, she's happy as larry otherwise.
