yep, i have the same... my daughter just wants the spoon too, she wants to feed herself only...
she still isnt coordinated too much... so all goes everywhere...(esp. breakfast) and if she cant manage she eats with her hans.... it s very messy....imagine eating cereall with her hand....

I just put a long sleeve bit on (with she does like much at all and usually takes it off half way through) and let her eat...at least she eats.
She turns her head away if i try to feed her too....she refuses to eat ...
so i just brace myself and survise the mess and i m hoping that she ll soon develop good hand coordination with spoon feeding.

We feed Hunter then give him the spoon and he finishes off the rest by holding the spoon which he loves to do. Its 8-9 months before babies ''should'' be having solids before milk( especially if its puree) and food is for fun till they're 1.

babys/kids eating is messing fullstop lol, so id just go with the flow, give him a spoon and you have one and just let him play.

I let Cooper hold it but also guide it in as well. Or some times he has a bit of a go and then I take it off him and put it in properly. Over the last week or two I have been introducing solids. Riley has always been keen - lunging at the spoon from the very first, then working out if he opened his mouth he got given another spoonful. However, now he has decided he wants to hold the spoon, which would be ok if he was coordinated enough to do it but mostly he ends up dropping it and/or smearing food all over his face, hands, clothes, etc. He gets really grumpy and frustrated and stops wanting to eat.
