I dont think DS would have turned on his own because of the cord... we forced it with the ECV.

Hmmm...maybe I'm also a bit worried cos I left out the bit where Clodagh's cord was wrapped around her neck quite a few times at birth so guess that's at the back of my mind too......

I don't think the cord will strangle the baby if it moves by itself. You are only 31 weeks so plenty of time for baby to turn around. I wouldn't worry about it. Just try the positions etc to get the baby to move into the right position naturally and think about ECV at a later date only if you need to.

can't really help you, as DD wasn't breech.... but she did complete a 360degree turn in the last 2-3 weeks before birth (so from optimal positioning, around to posterior then kept going!)....and the cord was wrapped around her neck very tightly twice (had to be cut at the neck before the rest of her came out!). but everything still went fine (except for a few periods of decels during labour), and she was a complication-free birth.

....ok so I feel a bit stink asking something that is probably obvious to everyone else on the planet and may also not even be an issue for me anywho lol, but here goes.....

When a baby is breech at my stage of pg, and I'm trying all these different things to turn her....like swimming and the positions reccomended on the Spinning Babies website etc.....is there any danger of her moving suddenly into the 'right' position but then putting herself in danger of the cord wrapping around her neck or something?

One of the reasons I'd like to avoid ECV is I heard that kind of thing can happen and result in an emergencey (and early) c-section. But for some stupid strange reason I keep thinking about the end of the movie The Butterfly Effect where the main character (as a fetus) strangles himself in utero.....

Aargh stupid crazy pregnant lady
