My Moby (proper one, not home made) is like a thick t-shirt material. A bit of 2 way stretch but not much. So I went and checked out the material (and its changed to Davids Emproium... lol) and omg theres so many types... how do I know whats too stretchy, and whats not stretchy enough?? Also they had some material that kind of felt ok, and was super cheap at $1 a metre... but it was this awful dirty olive green colour (which would explain why its so cheap, its a nasty colour!) would it be worth getting enough of that material to have a go at making a Moby in case I F it up, and that way havent wasted so much $ on it? Or is it so easy to make that botching it is virtually impossible?

If i was doing a panel, I would sew it over the normal wrap. If you put seams in it, it might mean it's not as strong. Theres still an Arthurs in Manukau, its just moved up the road a bit past the Supacentre... I remember going into one in papakura... (although admittedly that was several years ago, so maybe they've changed?) and there wasnt really any fabric, just lots of arts and crafts and dressup type stuff... might go have a look and see what i can find in there now lol!

So much for one more question...

I noticed that some of the moby type wraps available (for eg, the skin2skin ones) have a stretchy contrast panel on the front, are there any patterns available to accomodate a front panel?

Nah I never carried either of my babies that high, I don't think either of them were ever that small though! Plus he's reeaally skinny so that's why he has to wrap it around so many times.

JadeC that one's good, but for a stretchy wrap it's easier if you can tie it on first and pop them in (helps to get a tighter, more secure wrap too). The official Mobywrap.com instructions are pretty good for a stretchy wrap (I prefer the hug hold, Addie still has her legs in for the newborn hug hold). Lisa there are pics on the Moby wrap website and lots of videos on YouTube etc. Up to you re: stretch - a little stretch is great for a newborn and means you can pop them in and out without retying, a woven wrap will last longer, can be used for back carries but needs to be retied every time pretty much. A stretchy wrap is a bit easier for a beginner (but not too stretchy!).

www.moby.co.nz have a 10% discount at the moment (code LT1).

Keep an eye on TM. You can often get them for $50-60 on there. I also had a search for Hugabub on there - they're quite similar and sometimes go for the same price.
