My C-section was elective and planned due a breech baby and high blood pressure.
My scar is quite high, almost sticks out the top of my underwear, and its really long, and also quite lumpy and very deep red. My daughter is nearly 2 so I`m worried its not going to get much nicer to look at!

Hi, see you've had bubba, congratulations! I've had 4 c-sects so far, each time they've cut the same place, mine's hip to hip, very haphazard & still pink-ish from the last time, but I did manage to cough open my stitches a few times & I suck at "taking things easy". I've also got the dreaded apron, mostly from my 2nd who was 9lb2 & I was as big as a house. It's mostly a skin thing. 2 c-sections and just the one scar - this one has healed really well already only 2 weeks later its already better than the emergency one was after 3 years.. 2 emergencies but beautiful cuts LOL

One on top of the other and the kind surgeon even did a bit of cosmetic surgery on the very small imperfection for an infection first time around.

Thin, about 10cm and in the crease where my mummy tummy folds over so I never see it... I had an emergency c-s, and my scar is just above the hairline, about 15-20cm wide (they needed a bigger hole to get to Amber who was up the top of my ribs and all tangled up) and thin and very faintly silvery white - you can barely see it, and the ends have faded so you can't actually see them anymore. It's been 14 months since I had it done. I stll have a wee bit of numbness too, not fully numb, it just feels very strange!

Yep, DS is coming up 7 years and I'm still numb on the skin surrounding the scar. After looking at those pics I think my doc made a really hash of my incision, mine looks like a really long lightning bolt from hip to hip. It is very thin a white but still she could have used a bit of precision, it was elective too due to the docs thinking I had an almost 12 pound baby on board (she was only 9lb 11oz)
Also I have alot of numbness about 4cm either side of my scar does anyone else have this? Wow I looked at that link posted and my c-section scar is nowhere near as obvious as those on the first page - I would have been really scared looking at the site if I knew I was up for a c-section!

I ended up with an emergency one and 10 months on the scar is a thin, silver line right on my hairline. Mine's about 1cm above my bikini line. I remember at first I thought he must have been a rubbish surgeon as it was wonky - but now it's nice and straight so must have been me that was wonky after

I had an elective and while I can't really remember how long it took to heal it's been over two years and you can barely see the scar. It's so faint. Unfortunatly it's still numb around the imediate area and when I push on it I can feel the scar tissue right through. It's all worth it though My own little badge of honor

My advice is go into it with a positive mind and remind yourself to enjoy the actual birth because you won't feel a thing at the time and it goes so fast! I thought they were still prepping me when suddenly the first little head poped up to say hello lol. DH was meant to be taking pics :) The whole thing for me lastest 45mins and that was with twins. I think if you go into it with the right mind frame it can be a great experience. Mine is right on the hair line and very faint, like a white/silver line. hmm will come back if I remember what it's called but in the meantime this one has some good pics. I had a wound infection so my scar looks like the very bottom pic on that page (with a lumpy bit on one end where they tried to drain it).

my first was a nice calm "elective" c-section and my scar is about 2 cm's below my pubic hair line and faded to a thin silvery line, barely noticeable.

second was a crash section and my scar is a curving red line from hip to hip (but still quite thin). I'm sure it'll fade just fine and I don't mind even if it doesn't.

Mine is a plain red line about 1cm below the hair line. One piece is slightly raised, but I dont notice. The only time I really 'see' it is when Im drying myself and look in the mirror. My DP doesnt mind it at all. As the others have said make sure you keep it dry, give it lots of fresh air time and rest lots. i have had 2 c sections, and they did the second section right ontop of the first one...and mine just looks like someone has drawn on me with a real faint pencil...my scar is only little too, but my babies didnt need a bit hole to come out of.

Mine is ugly Dark(but getting a little bit lighter) and raised and wonky.
Aparently its just how I heal according to the surgen.

I was hoping after my elective it would heal better but it healed that same as my emergencyone did.

ETA- my second scar is now 13 months old.

I had an elective for a breech baby. My scar is about 2cm underneath from the start of my pubic hair. It is maybe 10cm across and it is barely noticable, I mean the finest of fine white line that I really have to look for, except for a couple of cm in the middle where it is slightly red.

So, I do not see it at all. After my c-section they covered the scar with medical tape and they said to leave that on til it comes off. It was mostly off after about a month, and the bit that I pulled off at the end is where my scar is red. So if they do that with you - don't pull the tape off - leave it on for as long as possible.

It's right on the line so you can't see it as growth is covering it! if you get my drift! I've had 2 and both were fine, take arnica spray for healing and i took vitamin C as well. But check with a naturapath about stuff to take. Can't notice it and it's low down.

My first one is really awful, long bumpy line, BUT it was from a crash c-section, so they werent exactly being careful where and how they cut me at the time. In saying that, its not purple (although it was for some time as I got a massive infection underneath) oh and its down pretty low, I can wear bikini underwear and still not see it!

2nd time around it was an elective, and the scar was neat and tidy from early on, a year later I could barely see it, its just a thin scratch of a silvery line, and since I'm really pale skinned anyways, its hard to see unless you know its there. Plus they did it underneath the old scar, so it doesnt get noticed any more than my first one.

I found having a pad folded lengthwise along the top of my undies helped keep it dry, and stopped any chafing from my belly overhang immediately after c-section, it was the one thing i did differently between the two.

Hi there, I am having an elective on the 19th, and am a bit nervous....
this may sound very vain and silly, but what can i expect my scar to look like when it is healed? how long does it take to heal? My hubby did something very daft and googled c-section scars, and is now really freaked out! I'm too scared to look...he said after 6 months they were still very long and red/purple, and were quite high up, not right on the public line like I thought they were??
