Have been watching for those symptoms Kicker, she was still drinking milk today and having wet nappies today.

We were told by the Dr that because bronchiolitis is a virus he couldn't give us anything for it. But i wonder if it is still bronchiolitis as I read that it only lasts 3-4 days
Will try and get her to the Dr first thing, don't want her taking medicine that makes her vomit everything up, otherwise she'll just become dehydrated.
I rang healthline last night, they were so helpful! Will definitely be ringing them again if need be.

We took her to the drs who sent us to starship, they just monitored her and said give her pamol and basically let her sleep it off. They said bring her back if she got worse, her feeds dropped more or she didnt have at least 2 wet nappies in a day.

Okay just found the discharge leaflet it says:

bronchiolitis is caused by a virus and so antibiotics will not help

paracetamol can be given to help reduce fever and/or keep your baby comfortable

your baby will need as much rest as possible

try and keep babies nostrils clear to help with breathing and feeding

Then goes on to say

YOU SHOULD SEEK HELP URGENTLY IF YOUR BABY IS GETTING WORSE WUTH ANY OF THE FOLLOWING

Your baby's chest is sucked in as they breathe, and they are working hard to breathe

There is any blueness around your baby's lips

Your baby is very pale

There is difficulty feeding (less than 1/2 of their usual feeds or not having at least 2 wet nappies a day)

Your baby has a high temp

But in writing all that, it your baby and you know them best, if you are worried give the A&E a call and explain to them what is happening and they should give you some advise.

We took him to the Dr as he was weezing and breathing fast, had a high temp and was just generally unwell. He was put on the nebulizer and that helped, but we ended up back at the Dr that night and then to the hospital.
They have him some stuff starting with P..umm prenizone?(lol its something like that anyways) and that helped heaps.

he got it again a few months later but not as bad, but I still took him to the dr and got him checked out.

Have they sent you home with some ventolin and a spacer? Thats what the hospital gave us, and we have it on hand nowdays just in case, as he still gets weezy sometimes with a cold.

Just try and keep her temp down, stagger pamol with nurofen, as i find nurofen works better at keeping the temp down and pamol helps more with the cold/flu symptoms, keep her fluids up and if you are really worried still then take her back to the Dr.

*hugs* Its scary when they are so sick for the first time huh

If i was you id be keeping a close eye - trying to get that temp down and just checking it doesnt get worse by morning, If you're concerned you can always call the well child line 0800 611 116 And they are pretty good about giving advice over the phone (24 hours too!)

I am possibly overcautious but I would probably take her to the A&E tonight, the worst that could happen is they say she is fine and you can have a relatively peaceful sleep. If you don't want to head off to the A&E then ring Healthline for advice
I hope she gets better soon.

She had bronchiolitis a few weeks ago and seemed to get over it, however yesterday she developed a high temp again and we had her at A&E with a temp of 39.4. Today she has seemed ok, but this evening was really lethargic and had a temp of 39.1 again.
The Dr gave us penicillin, however she keeps vomitting after taking it. So am going to try and get her to the Dr first thing tomorrow to see if we can get something else.

Anyone else had a baby with bronchiolitis and had it come back? I've heard alot of babies end up in hospital with it. The Dr said her chest is clear and it's all in her ears, nose and throat. Just not sure how worried I should be.....first time parent to a sick baby and all!!
