I usually do about 6-7.5hrs a day 3 days a week.
In between the kids I did a few different contacts, so worked 2-4 days a week (we had Jake booked into daycare full time so I could pick and choose what days I put him in).

But I've been really lucky as most food tech roles are full time. Its not a great career move for me, but if definitely suits me for now, and the money is better on contract (a pain doing my invoicing and tax/GST returns etc tho).

My last role was with a Global organisation which was a bit of a mans club, and while my immediate boss was fab the company as a whole was not catering for Mums at all.
Would be lovely to find a family organisation thats for sure, but they are unlikely to pay 50k
Sounds a great job Delli, Im not sure I have the brains to complete a degree in science though

might have to go to the careers advisor at massey

I am in an office role in marketing with only 3 employees and a general manager and I only work 8:30-2:30pm Mon to Wed.
The manager is a good friend of mine, and she was pretty desperate to keep me, so she's extremely flexible (one of the reasons I returned to that job). So at the end of the day I think it's more about who employs you rather than what line of work you choose.
I also have a laptop, so can work from home if need be.
Good luck!

They were very flexible with hours (though no working from home unfortunately). They had a few fulltime staff (I was one before having Jude) and a few part timers. I went back 9am-3pm 3 days a week after maternity leave ended (I got to pick those hours - they would have been happy with me starting back one day a week! And then moved it up to 5 days a week because I wanted to - no pressure from them) but we had one lady who worked 8am - 1pm everyday and another who worked 9am - 2.30pm. Those with school age kids were given first priority for holidays during school holiday periods and were allowed to have extended (unpaid) leave over the summer holidays to spend time with their kids. It was a really family friendly working environment. I would go back in a heartbeat if I could!
