I borrowed a copy of her DVD and she (Sharlene) seems to advocate a CC method of patting, sssshing and leaving to cry, then returning and repeating.

I second Elizabeth Pantley.  But yep ya gotta find what works for you and your family. We're still getting woken up at least once a night here...and that's a good night. *yawn*. But at some stage I just figure Clodagh *will* sleep through, I'd rather make things feel safe and secure for her iykwim? I think Sharlene Poole might have the same type of ideas as that lady who wrote Save Our Sleep...ummm can't remember her name. A friend of mine used it and found it brilliant, we used it and were lese than successful (obviously lol). It's a CC method. But I could be wrong about Sharlene Poole using that type of thing.

Just btw SBM...how are you finding the other books I lent you?!

Yeah Im not into letting Lilla cry either, Im not sure what parenting style I have, but everyone generally seem to like her or find some of her techniques useful so figured even if there was one little thing I got out of it it could be useful

She seemed nice enough, and was really un-biased (in my chatting to her) towards any particular parenting style. Which is good in some ways, but if I was going to get someone like her in, I would want them to be staunchly in the same camp as me, for instance, absolutely no letting baby cry (especially at Lilla's age!).

I drilled her a bit to see what kind of techniques she used, but she wasn't too forthcoming (I guess that's what people pay her for!), and from what I gathered she just went with whatever the parents were comfortable with, which is probably really aewsome for most people, but for me personally I would want someone on the same wavelength as me 100% of the time, not just when she's in my house, iykwim?

You probably already have, but in case you haven't, read Elizabeth Pantley's No Cry Sleep Solution! It's like the Bible for us - not that I've ever really done any of her sleep journal stuff (I just put up with a "bad" sleeper for 15 months, it was much easier than trying something new LOL!), but she is very reassuring and has heaps of good advice on things you can change if you aren't happy.

Is it just cos you went on holiday do you think? It can take them aaaaages to settle after those. Sigh. (my sigh from our own experiences lol)

I've met her and didn't "click" with her at all. Never used her services though, so can't give a proper review. She didn't fit with what I would want in someone like that though - wish Elizabeth Pantley offered to come and help out with babies for cheap!

i have 2 friends who have used her and both rave about her. I've been to one of her courses at the Parenting Place and ditto above she is really lovely and so loving with the babies. If you're having probs i reckon the money is soooo worth it. I had her come over for a 6 hour session when my bubs was little and I was desperate. She is just LOVELY in person! Had some great routines and ideas, very knowledgeable.

The only thing I didn't like was that she tried the patting technique on my son when it was time to sleep, which didn't work (he never fit into any boxes) but she insisted that he HAD to sleep and tried to force him. He screamed which I couldn't handle at the time :-)
