J and T both have them, and don't wear helmets, but I think from now on I am going to enforce that rule when they are scootering anywhere apart from home. Taine went up a hill and came down on his face about two weeks ago and we were off to the doctors to check for a broken nose and fractured skull, so yeah, i think helmets are a pretty good idea. And elbow and knee pads. I will be getting my kid/s to wear one. i dont think theyre really necessary yet. Very recently my cousins son "ate" the scooter handlebars and smashed a few of his front teeth. Imagine what else they could do?

No helmet = No scoooter. Yep, Amy got her two wheel scooter for her 3rd birthday and part of the present was the helmet. The deal is no helmet not scoot. The same rule came in for Sophie when she got her running bike for her 2nd birthday.

We we going to kindy the other week and the girls were on their scooter & bike and there was a boy and a girl in front of us on their way to school - aged about 6. The boy fell off and cut his head open (not major but there was blood) and Amy said after "he wasn't wearing his helmet was he Mummy? Is that why he hurt himself?"

I just bought Coopers his first Scooter & it says they're supposed to wear helmets, I'm not going to bother at this stage though, I guess I'm going to see how crazy he'll be on it. Hi

I'm just wondering if most people get their kids to wear helmets on their scooters?

My nearly 3yr old is getting quite good on her scooter now, and is able to ride it to the park and along the waterfront etc.

If she falls off, her tumble seems to be no worse than if she trips over, but I've heard other kids comment (in horror!) to their parents that she isn't wearing a helmet...
