really mean but if you see the cat doing it spray it with water, this is how we stop the cats getting on the fish tanks. as you know our old couches arent doing that well but i want to try and keep the new ones nice (when we finally work out how to get them in the house!!!!!!!)

Catnip on the scratch post will attract them to it, you could try a water pistol and squirt the cat eat time it does it but you have to be consistent! put some lemon juice on a saucer below where they scratch. - doesnt have to be fancy just that cheap stuff in a bottle.

cats hate citrus and avoid it (unless they are a weird cat)

your cat then will not scratch that spot - but they may try find another spot.

you could also get some catnip spray from a pet store and spray the scratch post with this so they want to use the post.

My mum puts double sided tape on the areas where her cat scratches and that stops her. I would do it too if our lounge suite wasn't so old and crappy, lol. You could also try tin foil, but may depend on where the cat likes to scratch.

In the states they have glue on rubber claw covers. 1 drop of superglue and pop the rubber cover on. They last a month before having to replace them. I will try and find a link for them. Can anyone tell me how to stop the cat scratching on the couch?

I have brought it a scratch post and it uses it but also uses the couch, i tell her off but she just keeps going back.
