    <![CDATA[<strong>Author:</strong> <a href="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/member_profile.asp?PF=22974">KatzWtgn</a><br /><strong>Subject:</strong> 36388<br /><strong>Posted:</strong> 26 October 2010 at 10:26pm<br /><br />DS takes a bottle when I'm not there (I work 3 days a week), but doesn't fall asleep with it -- DH and Nana wish he did! <br /><img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0"> <br /><br />They tend to cuddle him to sleep when he does sleepy cues (rubbing eyes is an absolute giveaway for him).<br /><br />We actually only gone out at night without him once (we usually take him with us) -- that was a wedding, and DH ended up singing "Rainbow Connection" down the phone to him to put him to sleep -- it was very cute <img border="0" src="https://www.ohbaby.co.nz/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0"> but he got some strange looks from the other guests!]]>

If he took a bottle it'd be a different story I'd try get him to take a bottle of EBM to fall asleep on then once he's used to it anyone could do it. But my DS doesn't take a bottle so hmm lol]]>

I then tried to slowly progress to patting to sleep but then somewhere along the way I forgot to move past that and went backwards to rocking to sleep and sometimes even feeding to sleep recently....<br /><br />I was using the No Cry Sleep Solution and the Sleepstore have a version too.]]>

I did it coz he was a crap sleeper during the day (still was after the change tho) and hoped that if he self settled he might sleep better.<br /><br />I just started taking him off the boob when he was getting drowsy rather than asleep and then at first he would complain so sometimes would go back on but eventually increased his wakefulness.<br /><br />He was a weirdo tho coz at night he would go back into his bassinette wide awake and settle himself but during the day he was a shocker.]]>

Now she goes to bed awake too as we have feed stories then bed. I started feeding her then reading 1 page and into bed and gradually lengthened the story. Now we feed in the lounge then taking her down to her room for stories then into bed which we managed with no fuss and no crying.<br /><br />You can feed until drowzy then put into bed and just lengthen out the time between feed and into bed gradually. I think about 5 minutes between feed and bed is good. ]]>

But that was cos he would fall asleep on the boob while feeding. All other times we did feed play sleep, so he self settled during the day.<br /><br />When I stopped it, he cried for the first 3 nights but since then its been fine. I just went in every few minutes and cuddled him and patted him.]]>
