I currently work for a large telecommunications company doing Formal complaint. Hard, hard work.

I find out in two weeks if i have been accepted into Midwifery! Be a kindy teacher! great job

can you tell i'm an early childhood teacher!
Have a B.Ed in teaching( ECE) and full teachers reg. which is an extra 2 years on top of the 3 year degree.
Have also studied for a grad dip in special ed only have 4 papers to go! but on hold till the kids are a bit older.
I currently work part time with the under 2's with DS2 fab job, love the challenge and variety and seeing the achievements and milestones.

I have a Diploma in Human Resource Management and also Diploma in Hospitality Management. I did want to do either Nursing (specialising in Pead) or Teaching but never did.

i had my son when i was 18, so just after i left school and have never had a proper job, i worked now and then for my mum who was a gardner. i plan on studying once i finish having kids and the youngest one starts kindy. i think id like to be a florist, but i also love photography, animals and kids.

Am so inspiried by you all!

I have an honours degree in history and a few postgraduate papers in public policy. It's actually been a useful degree, beleive or not. (refused to study law as parents expected). After graduating I spent 4 years working as an historian for the govt, mainly looking at Treaty of Waitangi issues, so lots of stuff land and war history and working with hapu and iwi to assist Treaty claims. It was full on, but I learnt so much.

Then worked in local govt doing policy and community planning for 6 years, did lots reasearch on policy issues. Most recently I worked as a recreation planner, doing policy and planning work related to parks and open space. I love parks and l loved loved loved my work there.

I want to do more study. I'd actually like to do speech therapy or linguistics as it fasinates me, but there's no training places locally. So am thinking doing some papers in lingusitics and communications. I'm in the first year of communications probably will major in management. Which should help me in going into events management. I have honours in criminology and just finished my Masters in criminal justice 2 years ago and love my work. I'd love to do my PhD one day but I think first off it is DH who will get his turn to study first (he is in IT) but would like to teach. I might investigate it for him - otherwise we'll still be talking about it this time next year

I also have a real interest in human nutrition but there are no study options for it in Wellington and moving simply isn't an option

I am considering doing teacher training to be a primary school teacher. Lactation consultant : check out this link and all that is on the home page. It is very techinical

I have a BSc majoring in mathematical physics (yip it's as nerdy as it sounds) and a diploma in teaching (secondar). I taught for 8 years prior to ds being born. Before i had Jacob i did nanny certifcate at SIT back in 2003/2004 started july 03 and graduated march 04.
Wanted to be a kindy teacher so was gonna apply for teachers college (or to work in a centre with the under 2's as i love babies) but after having jacob , midwifery appealed to me.
When Jacob was 13mths i did a nursing paper at SIT back in july 06, it was the growth and development one, i enjoyed it and it was nice to get outta the house one day a week (mum looked after jacob)

Have done pregnancy paper from cbe course and enjoyed that.

If i was to go down the nursing path id like to be in maternty ward or neonatal or plunket, so many options with nursing.

Hubby thinks i should wait till the kids are older b4 doing midwifery degree like wait till jacobs a teen jacobs 5 atm plus theres a few things i gotta do like get the rest of my licence and get my school work up to strach, i see otgao do a health course that has the option of chosing the nursing or midwifery paper, tho sit have pre entry nursing course its a 6mth one.

Pre children I did my nursing training straight from school. I've worked as a nurse, then in office admin then in clinical research and now studying fulltime towards Bachelor Business in Accounting. Hoping to be a Chartered Accountant eventually and drive an awesome Black Audi A8

MP, have you tired using Career Services? You can make an apt to meet with someone and they'll help you figure out here your strengths and interests lie.

I love studying and have a BA in education, a Health science degree (Occupational therapy), and a masters Degree. hope to start my PhD in a couple of years time. Have mostly worked as an OT in mental health, lecturing and now as a researcher.

I am currently on my last paper for my Economics and Social Policy degree.. had no idea what i wanted to do at uni and my mum suggested it (she was thinking financially

) Left it with 2 papers to go to work fulltime as it was doing my head in and in doing that i realised i wanted to be a primary school teacher!

Have been trying to finish my degree this year to do the diploma next year but may not be doing that now with a little one on the way! Plus DH now has a job in Sydney next year so i will have to look at if they have something similar i can do over there as its now my dream to become a primary school teacher

Same as Flissty I did my undergraduate speech language therapy degree a fair few years back (when DD1 was 2) and my Masters in communication disorders a few years later... I'm now 2 years into a PhD but have many years to go

eventually I too hope to lecture and research

I studied twice- bachelor of communication studies and post graduate diploma in primary school teaching.

Communication studies was great while at uni, got to try so many things tv, radio, PR, advertising etc and then majored in journalism in the third year- but found out very soon beyond uni that they take waaay too many people into the course when there's hardly any jobs at the end of it, and so hard to move up in the industry once you do get a job. I worked for 2 years then decided it wasn't for me. But if you had the determination and drive to fight for jobs at the end then it's a good course to do.

Primary school teaching, best move of my life, love love love it and so many opportunities that work around being a Mum really well. I was lucky I only had to do 1 year due to having a degree but I'd reccomend doing the degree if that was something you were interested in. Lots of people on my course were Mums getting back into the work force and they found it worked really well for them and what they needed for their family while they studied. I have never regretted it once and having been a Mum really helps! I am not studying at the moment but have done half a teaching degree and I don't want to finish it and currently work for the College of Education.

In 6 years I want to study fulltime doing a midwifery degree. I may look at doing a few health sciences papers before I start to give me a little bit of background backing.

Did speech and language therapy a while ago! Have worked as an SLT and researcher since then. Currently doing my masters in speech/rehabilitation and plan to start my PhD in 2012 and go into lecturing and research.

DH brought this up the other night and said maybe I could re-train once Sophie starts school. I just had an office job in a govt department, not a real career.

I have just started looking around and having a wee think and an am going to get some more info on Health and Human Nutrition

nzlisajo - I hunted for somewhere that would let me study from home too but they all said you need to be in class for the practical part. From Feb ill only be doing it 2 nights a week for 3 hours each so DP is home with buba while im there and the rest of the work i do from home. I did find this place while i was searching last year so you could look into that?

I am doing my Bachelor of Business Studies, majoring in Valuation and Property Management. It kind of extends on to my Legal Executive Certificate, Diploma in Conveyancing, and also my Certificate in Finance (General Insurance). It's all based around property which is what I love. I wanted a change and nursing has always interested me so I thought I might as well give it a go now. I couldn't get into it straight away so did two papers in Semester one and two this semester which can be cross credited to the nursing degree. This has worked really well because it means that I am doing year one of the degree part time over two years which is working well with the kids. Have now been accepted into nursing, passed the first two papers and have just had exams for the other two.

DH is 100% commited to me doing this degree...if he wasn't then I just don't think it would work. I'm majoring in a BA in Religious Studies at uni with the view to tutor it to other uni students while I do my PHD in it...one day! Then eventually lecture on it myself I guess. Meanwhile I'll start getting more involved in LLL while the babies are small as I'd like to become a leader there...possibly with a view to being a lactation consultant, but not sure if I need medical training for that? If so I probably won't bother as teaching an obscure subject at uni interests me more hehe

TBH though I could probably be a full time Mama and part time student quite happily for years yet.....maybe go back to being a 111 operator part time for extra $$ if we decided as a family that it was needed.

Go on Peachy and finish it! Only two papers to go! Ive just finished my diploma in business (specialising in HR and management) and for the last two papers i choose ones that had no exams - was much easier than trying to cram study the night before

Anyway am soooo glad that I have finished it now as I was totally losing motivation but now have at least something under my belt!

Ive got just over one year til I finish my midwifery degree. I have always known this is what I want to do so it was easy for me. It is however really full on and hard when I have to leave the kids but I honestly couldn't imagine doing anything else.

Have you done that career quest quiz? I study Occupational Therapy.

Im actually a bit annoyed at myself for picking it, as after I graduate i will be one of the 200 new grads fighting for one of the 40ish Jobs Nationwide available to new grads.

I've done social work, started but not completed a BA in social policy and politics, then did business admin, computing, and at the moment I'm doing a diploma in business with a goal to do the accounting technicians certificate which I would love to have.

I'm not very good in a 'classroom' situation. Atm im studing Photography and i LOVE it but thats because its also a hobbie. I want to either go into photogrphy teaching at uni or photo jounalism. I did a bachlor in interior design in 08 and hated it. It just wasnt me and i never completed it so wanted to make sure i would do something i enjoy and would complete this time around

I've been working in sales (in a bathroom showroom) for the past 7yrs and do enjoy it but would love to further my skills and do an Interior Design Diploma. My ultimate goal is to get my Diploma and set up a design/decorating business so I can work from home. I want to study HR next year but am not sure I would do that well. I have the experience of HR behind me and it's the only thing that I really enjoy.. but in saying that I want to get into recruitment so thats probably more sales than HR really.. so I am not sure if I should do sales training or HR training. I work in IT. While I don't love my job I enjoy the challenge, my company, and the time away from the kidlets.

Twice now I've started and not finished reflexology/massage related courses. There's probably a few threads on this, sorry.

However, before kids I worked in retail and I really don't want to go back down that path.

I figure, all going well, I have about 5 years before I go back to full-time work so I'd like to start studying now, so I can pace myself and get organised to re-join the workforce.

I've always wanted to be a kindy teacher, but I really don't know if that's for me anymore.
I've tried a few things (I'm a qualified chef, travel and tourism...) but none have stuck.
