Oh Frantic, I smile at people with bellies cause I feel like Yay another mum having a baby! And then I remember that I carry really tiny and so obviously they can't pick immediately that I'm pregnant "like them", so then I feel a little silly. yup I get the looks too... actually I noticed the other day that I get more "kindly knowing smiles" than anythign else... it creeps me out - a stranger walks past and takes a look at my belly and must think "oh she is about to pop" and then I get it - the kindly nodding smile... almost like an approving type of thing like "there there dear - it will all be over soon" - eeuuw! I wish peope would stop smiling at me just cos I have a big belly! Same thing happened to me on Sat. We went away to Napier for the weekend. I was sitting with MIL on a bench outside shops waiting for her friend and this oldish lady stared (complete with dropped jaw!)as she approached us, then turned around to look again 4 times as she went past! MIL called out " Do you want to take a picture?" Haha! Oh poor you Paws!! That's so not nice. I'm always really conscious about making the object of my belly envy uncomfortable so I try not to stare and just pass a casual glance. I don't think I would cope very well with that amount of staring though. I could probably handle people having a casual glance a lot better but honestly this one lady had her eyes glued to my belly the whole time that I was walking down the mall towards the coffee club where she was sitting and I swear didn't leave my belly until I was around the corner and it was out of her sight (I know 'cos I turned around and checked!). I ALWAYS stare at bellys now that I am pregnant. I know I shouldn't but I can't help it - I'm super jealous and I want to see what they are wearing. Hehe I'm another slipper-wearer-in-public, although with all the staring at the hippopotamus belly I doubt anyone even notices... I did get asked last week if I was overdue tho and the look on the lady's face when I told her I had 6 or so weeks to go was priceless - go on, ask another dumb question!

LMAO at Willie when we were at Countdown on Saturday, this young girl about 14 or so was staring I think at US as in me, him and Maya (we are a strange looking family ) but he thought just at ME so he went up to her and said "don't worry, one day you'll have a belly like that too and people will stare at you". Aw, Paws... the staring's just uncomfortable, innit!!  I don't like that strangers stare at my belly now, and today I did manage to stare back at one until she turned away in shame...  I'm liking your approach, though, Maree - niiiice! 

I stare at people's strollers now.  It's tempting not to stop them and ask how they find each brand (even though we've got ours).  Yes, I'm  the creepy lady staring at some of you, probably!

Well hasn't someone in here developed the America's Next Top Model super-ego - how do you know they were staring at you and not your hubby? He could have been sporting something dashing today that had them all staring...
He wasn't wearing his undies on the outside again was he? They weren't your undies he was wearing on the outside either?

But seriously, staring is all part of the game. People stare at my belly when I'm out waddling around the mall. I figure it distracts from them noticing that I'm wearing my slippers and staring at my sheepskin footwear (I can't help it if they are both comfy and the only shoes that fit comfortably at present). As soon as the little miss is born they'll start ignoring you and staring into the pram to see the baby. Then a year or two will pass and they'll be staring at the toddler throwing an all out tantrum in Whitcoulls while you look helplessly on... In any case, if it was Glenfield Mall, be happy that they are staring at you for being a glowing pregnant soon-to-be-mum and not some Westie Bogun wandering around in her slippers....*oops*

Hubby and I just went to the mall for some lunch and get a Fathers Day pressie for his dad.

I have never felt so self concious in my life!! People had thier eyes GLUED to my belly to a point where I wanted to walk up to them and slap them!!!!

I know between it being my last 2 weeks and Maddie having a generous swimming pool I'm sporting a fairly sizeable bump but oh my goodness it just felt so rude the way people were staring!!!!
