The whole front of our house is glass, with a sliding door and that's right where the lounge is and we don't see people coming till they are already here! Our landlords are supposedly putting a gate in (to stop Chelsea from escaping which she likes to try and do!) hopefully they get around to doing it before the baby is due so we can put a sign up, otherwise will have to close all the curtains, and I don't think I'd like that...

We live rurally and I am planning to have the birth pool in the lounge. Which has large windows and doors that go out to the deck. So if someone came around and came in to the house that way then they would see me in all my glory unless I had all the curtains closed.
I am thinking after the midwives arrive closing the gate with a sign might work. Then having a couple of other signs on the path in case someone did venture in. I think it will most likely be my Dad who would pop in unannounced. So will just text him that I am in labour and i probably won't see him for days!
The only thing I am worried about is that if my mother, or auntie came around and saw the sign, they would probably think "how exciting, I am sure that sign doesn't apply to me" and come in anyway. So will have to have DH and midwives ready to send them on their way!

When my wee one comes this time I'll get my daughters to shoo visitors away as this one is due around New Years!..lol...I'm so excited! i really can't wait:)

We live rural so that half of our house is nicely secluded. However, everyone who knows us comes to the back door and would have walked in on me in all my glory before we realised they were there. So we had a sign on the front door, and another on the water tank beside the path (where you'd see it on your way to the back door) saying "X is in labour. please come back another day" or something like that.

We did have my young brother and his girlfriend and her brother pop in - they had been out for the day and were hungry and hoping I'd feed them. DH met them as they pulled into the driveway and told them to leave. But it was fairly early in labour so not a big deal anyway.

I didn't put one on the gate because no-one would stop at the gate unless it was shut (they'd just drive in), and we wanted it open so the MW could get in easily
