Yeah waiting Lists in Wellington are looooooongggg... We're on one atm - 18 months! We moved to Chch 6 months ago and I was able to get DS1 a place at daycare straight away - he was 2 1/2 yrs at the time. I went to 3 local daycares and all 3 had places. Depends where you and the age of your child. Under 3s are slightly easier to find places for. Honestly start looking now and ask how long the waiting lists are.
