When I had DS i found it really hard to find a midwife (hopefully that's not the case now). What I did in the end was every time a MW couldn't take me I asked her for the names and phone numbers of every other MW that she knew. Edith is amazing but won't do Lower Hutt unless you have previously delivered with her before. I think most of the rest of the group do do lower hutt though. Liz Hayes (from UH midwives) was good with ds. You could try Birthworks, that's where my midwife is at. Depends what you're after, they are very pro-natural birth (they will deliver at either hospital or your home - I'm choosing to birth at home )

I had Alison Wightman and she was fantastic. Very no nonsense, great with care and aftercare!
