Hi there, first time poster, but have been following these forums for a year now. Have been trying now for 15 months.
I am 34 (gulp) been married for 2 years, no problems they can find with me at Repromed.
Had our first visit to Repromed a couple of weeks ago and today had my 1st clomid pill.

Hi Tischler, well I am sooooooooooo the wrong person to ask about a Pipelle, cause I am the only person they know of who had such a hard time - I broke into a sweat, hyperventilated, and fainted cause the pain was so severe. My cervix refused to open, so if you can excuse the TMI, the opening was 1mm and the pipelle rod was 2mm - you can do the maths on that one - my gyno was just devastated when I fainted. . I would fully recommend to anyone you know who has the procedure to insist on laughing gas, it is not guaranteed to be as straight forward as they say (like a smear!!!) - I say heed on the side of caution and get some gas...

Hi everyone, long time since I posted. Am 5dpo and had one of 2 potential frosties transferred on 3dpo - one superb frosty, but the other one didn't survive the thaw. That was gutting but there is consolation in having a superb one! PLUS last month I had a pipelle treatment to help aid implantation, so fingers x'd as this is my last frosty.

Today I have a lot of cramping in my sides, particularly my right hand side, a little nauseous if I go too long without anything to eat (ie by morning and afternoon tea time I was feeling quite ill so had some nuts to get me through!). This is all quite familiar to me for a potential BFP but as we know, anything can happen between now and that elusive BT that we all hope for the big BFP from...

So for me it's not just getting pregnant, it's implanting, staying pregnant, and not having m/c #7...

Hope everyone else is well. Balcy I remember you first joining this thread, is this your first round of IVF? Far too many pages for me to catch up on sorry - but hello to anyone that remembers me and hope you are all doing well xxx

BT for me is Tuesday 23rd August. Hi Balcy1 - In comparison to buserelion (which made me feel super depressed and tearful) I found Gonal F made me feel great, I was just a bit uncomfortable due to the pressure of eggs near the end of the cycle. Did my third injection last night, and it seems to be getting easier every time. Hmmm... until I have to start doing two a night that is... LOL

Anyway, feeling pretty good. Bit of a constant pressure headache, and a feeling a little anxious. I suffer from and are medicated for anxiety and panic attacks anyway, so could just be the stress of IVF causing this rather than the injections.

H4B - Im not sure what that means. However, my letter did say that we would have to wait another 3-4 months after counselling etc appts, and then at the appts they told me we would be starting next cycle. I'm guessing they just put something along those lines to cover themselves. That way patients cant get agro if they DO have to wait.

Im patiently waiting for AF to arrive. Due on Wednesday, so not to go now. And yea, I am actually looking forward to jabbing myself (strange but true). Balcy - on your consent appointment letter did it state when your likely to start? Mine said on it "its important to note at this stage the funding has been pre-allocated for the year and we are currently booking into August 2011".... what do you think that means? Do you think we are pre-allocated into that or do you think it means that we will be after that??

H4B - your the same as me. We have to do a short cycle as well cos Im at high risk of OHSS to.
How exciting to finally find out your start dates.

I received all my meds by courier yesterday. They sitting in the fridge just waiting for next week now. Should be doing first one hopefully next Thursday night... The count down is sure on now.

Hi Carey and welcome! Sorry, can't help you with being in the same situation. As Tischler said you do need to get to 65 so hopefully it won't take you too long to get there. Good luck with the private route in the meantime :)

I had my scan today - 9 cysts on the right ovary, 13 on the left so only borderline PCOS however my AMH consistent with it at 6.3. I have to have more tests to rule out some rare genetic disease with is similar to PCOS but its about the adrenal gland (some big fancy medical name I can't remember). If its that there could be some issues with passing it onto babies. Im also getting tested for diabetes and high cholestrol.

Other than that, we are almost good to go - have our consent appointment on the 19th July and then will know when we start IVF! Talked about treatment options - she said I would do a short cycle as im at high risk of OHSS. Tischler - sorry to hear you having tough times and was hoping the letter would bring some sunshine. DH and I have had our far share of frustration talks and him being an imbecile and rather selfish. Oh I do love him dearly, and we are great most of the time.   Its so hard when they already have kids, the urge is not as great. You have a couple of more cycles under your belt than me, so that frustration must be huge by now. Hugs babe.

Re: public list ... if you don't score 65 you then just have to wait, each month/year you wait gives you extra points. It really sux, but that's the way it is. Hopefully you'll have a better idea in January if you're not UTD!!

I'm now not looking forward to getting my public funded letter - we are in too much of a conflicting place to make any decisions re: our future and whether we try again. DH too frustrated at continual failures. Hopefully we may get through some counselling and out the other end before we need to make a decision

Hello all, Hope you dont mind me joining too. I have just signed up for private ivf at repromed chch. We are lucky enough to have a son conceived naturally but have been trying for 2 and half years for second with no luck, tests reveal husband has low sperm count and seems our boy is a bit of a miracle. Anyway decided to pay for a cycle whilst wait for public funding. We received a letter today stating we only scored 50 and as min criteria is score of 65 we will be reviewed again in Jan 12. afm - Day 5 of buserelin and doing okay this time round not so sad, tearful OR headachy - think the lack of headache due to being completely off caffiene for months. Think in my first cycle my sad and tearful was grief of having to do this grrgghh but glad I now have that understanding. Only side effect this time is STARVING!!! Can handle eating too much as long as I function at work. Mind a bit tagential late afternoon though - lol

Think a catch up due. In north canterbury to cater for Balcy this time to be fair - I am free any weekend after weekend 09/07/11 till august 14th. Balcy pick a date that suits.

Awesome News Treens.
Our day went like this:

Counselling session - which was more of a questions and answers session really. She told us a full run down on what happens, and asked about our history. And basically just time to have all our queries answered.

Scan - Im sure your well aware of what happens here.. LOL

Semen Analysis - And here... LOL. Men get is SOOOO easy!

Doctor - This is where we signed all consents forms and organised dates to start treatment (very exciting).

Drug Education - The nurse gave us a run down on how to use the injections and how this side of it all works. Even got to practice jabbing myself. It is nowhere near as bad as you expect. Doesnt hurt like I had imagined it to. And I felt so much better after doing this, cos I was pretty nervous about the needles. Also got to have a look around where it all happens...

I really enjoyed our day of appts. Very informative and exciting at the same time. Good luck and I hope you dont have to wait too long for your appts. Hello everyone.
Hope you are all well!

Well, Im officially on the countdown now. 10 days till I start injections... So Exciting!!!
I still cant believe its all so close after such a loooonnggg wait.
Had a bit of hiccup which has been a little stressful. I have had (for the first time ever) what is called a 'mid cycle bleed'. Started CD14, and I was convinced it was gonna put IVF on hold, but apparently its common. Had really light bleeding for 5 days, and then just disappeared.
After blood tests, they told me my cycle is doing exactly what it should hormonely. TMI? Sorry!!!

Just HAD to happen the month just before we start IVF! Hi ladies

I have decided to join as i have been reading all your stories for a while.

I have been on the waiting list since 15/7/10 and phoned Rebecca the other day to see how far away we were from the top, to my suprise she said i will be getting my letter next week! I hope it's true as i have been dying for it to arrive.

We need IVF as my hubby has a very low sperm count. I'm 27 and he is 30, we see Michelle Bailey and she tells us we have a very good chance of it all working, i'm sure they say that to everyone!

I can't wait to get things moving, i'm asked a few times a week "when are you having a baby?". We have been together since i was 14 and got married 3.5 years ago so people have been asking me this for years now. Hi LR, welcome!

We did 3 IUI's while waiting for IVF and were successful on the first time however mc. The success rate is low (something like 15%) however we wanted to try the less invasive option prior to IVF. We were thinking of doing another one actually however I have just reached the top of the waitlist so will now go down that route.

Thanks tischler, yeah our holiday feels like a distant memory now

They said the waiting list was 12 months which feels like a lifetime away. We talked about it last night and think we will do a private round in a few months time. Hey LR - glad to have you join us (but bummer that you need too!). I was so hoping that things would work out for you with the clomid

Guessing you're back from your holiday?? Dam the ash didn't stop your flights home!!

I also have a dodgy egg supply but because I'm 'young' (36) FS wasn't too concerned about it?? How long did they think it would take to get onto the waitlist? If you could afford private IVF I'd be tempted (that's what we did while waiting).

Hey guys,

Can I join in here? I had my first appt at Repromed today with Catherine Conway, she was really nice

My history is I had lap surgery for endo in Sept 2009, then started TTC in Jan 2010, (although we had off and on before then a wee bit), was put on clomiphene through my gynae at the Oxford Clinic after 6 months and then conceived in Nov 2010, miscarried in Jan this year. Been back on the clomiphene for 5 cycles but no dice.

So today I was told that my ovarian reserves are low and we should start looking at IUI/IVF. We were put on the IVF waiting list but I think I would rather do a private IVF cycle instead of waiting with my dodgy egg supply IUI's success rate sounds really low?

well she initially told me May/June... this got pushed to July however I got it for June (and I went on the waitlist 5th July 2010). Hopefully with the increase in numbers your only a short wait away hun!!!

Mac - great news re: jabbing starting!

Funny, Greg suggested I ring Rebecca to see where we're at on the waitlist ..... her response - usual '12-13 months till you receive a letter' - wouldn't say anything else (guess she can't but you know ...). Greg was saying that they are calling up 40 couples a month instead of 20 as there are so many not accepting the offers currently due to earthquake etc so he thought we should get in this year. Would have been nice to hear something like that from Rebecca .........

hoping4bubs - I had to do a blood test on CD3 and then we had to wait 4 weeks for our day of appts (they made them all on the same day since we are from out of town), and I was shocked when they told me we would be starting next cycle. So in two weeks we will be starting injections.

We did drug education on that day as well, and I got to practice injecting myself with a practice needle. I was soooo amazed at how easy it was, and it didnt hurt at all. I felt so much better after doing it to, cos I was a little nervous about doing it.

It still kinda feels surreal, and hard to believe that FX'd I could be preggers in 6 weeks from now. OMG!!! 6 week!!! Eeeeeeekk!!! SO EXCITED!!!!

That's awesome H4B! You got your 'letter' July 2010 didn't you? We got ours August 2010 ... maybe our time is nigh?

We had a follow-up with Greg today. He is still positive that he can achieve a pregnancy for us, which is good because I am feeling ready to keep going. He's talked about a couple of 'new' things that have been published lately - intralipid infusions and a biopsy to interfere with the endometrium before ET which apparently can lead to increased success. Will see what happens when we get there. He also said there's nothing to stop me taking omega-3 (basis for intralipid) so maybe it might be a good thing for us all to start taking??

HELP!!! I dont know what to do...
Here is my ordeal:
I had my appts last Tuesday and was told we could be booked on for my next cycle. However, it was going to collide with my Dads major surgery so we decided to wait until August.

Now, my Dad has just found out that his surgery wont be till August cos his surgeon is away. And it would be much easier for us if we did it in my July cycle...

Does anyone know if Repromed allow you to change the dates of the cycle booked? I feel bad for asking them and feel like I am mucking them around.

Im at CD8, but not starting injections till approx first week in August. Could have started in July but gonna be in Nelson with my parents for Dads big op around the same time. So have to wait another cycle. But whats another month in the scheme of things aye.

So, are you doing a long cycle? You seem to have a lot more injections than what I am to be having.
We are doing a short cycle, as apparently my ovaries are very active. They even think I may have PCOS. Balcy really exciting for you Go girl. What day are you up to? have you started buserelin or just done a practice with injections?

AFM - round 2 begins with drug ed next Tuesday, day 21 BT thursday and then I start injecting hopefully. Gonna be a bit low key this time and likely AWOL but will let you know. Trying to be real positive that the buserelin won't plunge me into despair and now realise I just have to make it through a week before I start gonal f. They have doubled my dose to 300 and may have to take pregnyl towards the end also. Hope it make lots of eggs!

Think of you girls always just need to get on with it instead of foccusing on it - IF that is, some of you have come to this conclusion already and now i have made that conclusion but do so value your support and off course know i am supporting you all every day xoxxo MAC .

Has anyone had any experience with Intralipid infusions? From research I have read it appears to contribute to a significant increase in IVF success and on recurrent miscarriage. My fertility specialist has suggested we give it a go on our next cycle.

And....are you all continuing with cycles despite earthquakes? WOW! WOW! WOW!
Well, we had our appts yesterday and I cant beleive just how quickly things start to progress from here. After all the waiting, its finally gonna happen.

Could of started in my next cycle which is only about 3 weeks away, but it worked out to be exactly the same week as my dad has his big op, so we decided to move it forward into August, as I want to be there for my Mum.

And I got to stick a needle into my belly, which I have to say was nothing like I was expecting. It was soooo easy.

Can you tell Im very excited now???

Hi girls, sorry neglected this page It took until 5.10 tonight to get results, but unfortunately got my 5th IVF BFN

I know a lot of you understand how cr*p it feels, it was just soooooo frustrating that it took an extra day to get the results through, as well as feeling shaky?!*

I can now stop all jabs, drugs etc and return to 'normal'. I can have a coffee, wine, etc. Gotta see the positives.

I have good plans for going back to the gym and continuing on my weight loss mission, and I am thinking up oodles of questions to ask Greg when we go for review!!

In regard to meeting up - if anyone is keen please PM me and I'll try to coordinate .... the quakes and the wait have kind of put me on the back foot for organising it - so sorry!Mac - have a great weekend in Timaru!

I so need a weekend with just DH. Hanging out for the 27th July as that's when we get our first 'break' from step-kids in months (we used to do week on week off so often got breaks, but the changes we've had to make this year have meant time alone with DH is soooo precious).

Balcy - a good idea to discuss spotting with your GP if it goes on longer than a week. Yeah we may be doing the cycle together will know for sure soon.

AFM - went to Melbourne and AF late by a week so again hoping for a miracle alas AF has come and now am closer to starting round 2. So this week has been a bit up and down emotionally, - am just making it day by day.

Has anyone ever lost weight and found that it has interferred with your menstrual cycles???
If so, how exactly???

I seem to be having spotting since about CD19, its been 4 days now. Its not heavy by any means, but more just like the very start or very end of a period...

Oh Cherub, I'm sooooo sorry It never ever is easy. I so understand your thinking re: will it ever work and not getting as many etc etc. I have found that with subsequent cycles I've felt far more in control, so when you go for your review appt, see if you can go prepared with lots of questions. Definitely ask for a realm of tests (they can do lots like mutant genes etc), and see if you can try the colorado protocol next time (if you didn't with the transfers) but be prepared that they may not have any answers and it's a 'try again' fact. So frustrating I know!

Hi sorry I have been MIA. It is a BFN for us. We are really disappointed, it doesn't get any easier, in fact it is probably worse. The first few we put down to bad luck but now I'm starting to wonder if it is ever going to work. When we got 8 blasts from our first round, I thought we had a whole family there. 5 replaced and no baby. We are going to ask for some more tests in case there is something else going wrong. I am reasonably young (31,) or so the doctor keeps telling me, but I won't be young forever and we don't want to waste anymore blasts. Then there is the chance we won't get as many this time. Anyway sorry for the rant, just having a poor me day

I'm not going to do a HPT - did you????? This will be the first IVF cycle that AF doesn't arrive before BT (on meds this time) so I'm quite 'excited' by the fact that it will be a surprise phone call. I think I will have to take the afternoon off work though .... can't imagine I'll be 'thinking' very well in anticipation for uber exciting or uber sad news!!

H4B - come on letter!!! I'll be anxiously waiting with you if this cycle doesn't work!!!

Mac - sorry, didn't respond to your Q. They put me on the pill as my cycles are all screwy from PCOS (a number of anovulatory months and cycles up to 50 days). When you're on the long protocol it's like a 2 cycles from woe to go, so you're supposed to get AF just before you start Gonal. The 21st isn't far away now - you must be getting nervously excited?

yea done that plenty - always worked, even without it and just the clomiphene I ovulated which is why I want to go back to it (got a sneaky lot sitting here so why not aye). I managed to get down to an average of 32-34 days so was happy with that.... way better than the 50 odd I have been creeping up to without the meds!!! Last time I did clomiphene I think was Sept/Aug last year and initially I was ovulating on my own and my cycles lengths were down but slowly they been creeping up.... figgen over them - I have only ovulated 3 times this year!!!! argh

H4B have you tried the ovidrel injection which makes you ovulate? Dont know if you can have it with PCOS.
I had it most months as my cycle was so long. By the time I ovulated DH was exhausted and had a sore back
Between the clomid and ovidrel I had a normal 28 days cycle (which was anything from 37 - 49 days without)

H4B - I got my letter which said I needed to have a BT on CD3, so I had to wait about 3 weeks for that first. But then the day after the BT, I phoned Repromed and got our next appt then. Have to wait yet another 4 weeks for this appt, but 2 weeks have almost gone already, so not long now.

Im not the most patient person in the world, but my patience is truly being tested during this journey.

Balcy - how long after you got your letter did you have an appointment? What is the process and what do you need to do?? Im starting to think more about it (IVF) now - have not wanted to find out too much in hope that I wouldn't actually need it but alas, here we are CD35 and still waiting to OV so will be a longer cycle than last month. Im going to go hard out on the dieting for the next month - try follow a PCOS diet plan. Fingers crossed I get my call up in July!!!

AFM - bday is 22nd.Any my story from this week...
Last night my mum tells me she has read this book about infertility. Apparently it gives you a real insight into what the author is going through. And I should read it!!!! I was like mum - I have my own insight and a pretty good idea of what she went through.

But the good thing is this woman does say that the most annoying thing is people telling her to just relax - so I was able to remind my mother that that was her favourite advice. She almost apologised

Hi everyone.
Sorry I havent posted for a few days. Have been checkin in to see what everyone is up to though.

Not much happening with me right now, just lots of BD cos its that time of my cycle.
Only 2 and half weeks to go till our appt... Yay!!!!

Hi ladies,

How are you doing Cherub, Tischler and Kob? hanging in there? have my fingers crossed for you too.

And all the other ladies out there wherever you are in your cycles

AFM: Day 10 today, did a scan and things are on a go slow for me, this time last month had a 23x25mm follie but things are well under 10mm and a lining of only 5mm so it prob wont be til mid next week? had some bloods and they will ring with a plan, prob more bloods monday, scan tuesday and maybe iui wednesday? meanwhile i will keep testing with the lh kits to be sure we dont miss it.
