After a few weeks of (i admit half hearted) attempts at 'the naughty corner' DS had that look like he got it this morning.
I guess that means I'm going to have to up my consistency on it.

Am thinking will have to intro something like this in the future. Am reluctant to use the cot tho, as I have worked pretty hard on giving out the message that bed is a happy place to go. Same here.

I put my 27 month old in the cot when she has done something really naughty like hitting her brother. Naughty spot she thinks it is funny but putting in her cot she knows I mean business.

Someone once told me it time to start using the naughty spot once they start giving you "the look", the one that says they know darn well that what they have done is naughty and are waiting to see your reaction to it. DS started "that look" at about 15mths old. We did the cot thing too for a few months - just like AandCsMum - warning first and then into cot for maybe just a minute or two, until she got the idea that her behaviour resulted in her being removed from the room! We also tried to emphasise that we expected a 'sorry' when we got her out..... this took some time until her language was up to it, but I think even at 16 months, they know what's going on, even if they can't express it clearly.

you have to pick a method and stick to it for at least a couple of weeks before saying it doesnt work. I found that the naughty step worked for our boy a t that age, I would have to take him to it and sit with him for a minute, (not talking to him) but it did seem to make an impact, I think just removing them from the source of conflict helps heaps at that age. How old does a toddler have to be before they get the naughty corner?

DS is 16mths. He's got a few words, but doesn't really talk. I'm pretty sure he knows what I'm saying most of the time.

He's a good kid most of the time, but is sometimes "challenging". Today he hit DH in the face with a solid plastic toy block, he loves pinching my neck and pulling my hair. Telling him to use gentle hands just isn't cutting it.

I've been trying to tell him he's done wrong, and put him in the corner (which lasts about 5 seconds) and trying to ignore him for a bit.
