I was wondering if I was the only one who found him really annoying, I tried to read one of his books (Fathers raising daughters) and couldn't stand its tone. I think he's great too. I read a book of his. I found his sleeping advice great. Basically argued talked about CC and pointed out that he didn't hate his Mum for doing it and his kids don't hate him. I kept this in mind when we did it. havent really watched his show but the dvd is on my want list.

I dont think thats the case at all. Well especially after reading the book. We thought the show was great although tend to agree that the humour was a tad "try-hard".

I've just started reading "before your kida drive you crazy" and so far I'm enjoying his approach and think it's well worth a read. He was a keynote speaker at a conference and I went to and was SOOOOOOOO funny.

I dont like him either, he is a bit of a dick trying to make jokes etc, but I do agree with his ideas on parenting - I definately dont wrap mine on cotton wool or baby them - they are little people not sheep! at times very naughty little people who push the boundaries and take the mickey!

I really like him for the most part.  Yup he's pretty old school in a lot of ways which is great IMO. There's too much STUFF out there to try and make us feel bad about how we parent. I read this one and enjoyed it, although I didn't agree with everything he said.


The thing I think about Nigel Latta is that he has done amazing work with incredibly difficult young people (eg teen sexual offenders) and has really great ways of interacting with kids (I went to one of his workshops around working with high needs young people through work). That said, I feel like some of his ideas are more to be implemented *when* there is a problem, rather than with every kid - if that makes sense.

haha i think he's great. i love his line 'do not negotiate with terrorists". My 2.7 year old terrorist in particular. Really he just speak common sense truth.

You never agree 100% with every approach but clicked with his philosophy, basic nuts and bolts parenting, without fancy fads and guilt trips. I like the way in his book he asks the kids things. He's a psychologist, has a non-pc parenting show, show about criminals & why they are the way they are (beyond the darklands- think there's an Australian version?), writes books, & has a few columns in a couple of magazines. I love his old school attitude, some people hate it, but it works for us. Especially for the older kids I've found his advice invaluable. Who here has watched his shows, or read his books???

I am reading one of his books now. And thinking about some of the things he is talking about i fully agree and im going to start doing it with DD.

I guess you could say he is quite old school in his thinking and advice.

What do you think of him and his attitude towards how we raise our children??
