JadeC - Are you sure it wasn't the zofran in wafer form that you took? they call it odensetron (sp?).

natural remedies did nothing for me either,
if the dr won't prescribe you anything else, you could always take more zofran? taking 1 tablet a day did nothing for me either . i also went onto cyclizine nearer the end, as my dr was reluctant to prescribe me more zofran (and i hated taking it, but couldn't function without it), and that worked ok. it would have been useless during though, as i took it for my first pregnancy and was still sick the whole time.
poor you! i firmly decided that i am NOT doing it again!!! it's so horrible

The natural remedies didn't help me either, ginger beer made it so much worse! I will try to find the name of the pill I took, it was a god-send. Literally it's almost impossible to function being that sick all day, its ridiculous.

I havent taken Zofran but also had bad MS with my DD so just wanted to say huge hugs to you and I really do feel bad for you as there is nothing worse than feeling ill or day everyday for a long period of time!

We do seems to be a bit behind in regards to what helps pregnant women
I have only had a decent conversation with women doctors who have had children or grandchildren in regards to questions and expectations

I wasn't too keen on trying Phenergan as it's ranked 'C' by the FDA in terms of risk category in pregnancy. Zofran is "B" and so is Unisom so I feel a bit happier about those as options.

From what I have read it has to be the Unisom tablets, not the gels. The tablets seem to be widely recommended for MS overseas. I will try and find out more from a doc perhaps.

Unisom sleep gels - are a sedating antihistamine - the drug is called doxylamine - it is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding - and I wouldnt touch it myslef - but you could chat to your doctor

the other more commonly given is phenergan (promethazine) during pregnancy- but again talk to your doc or LMC

Zofran is usually the best you can get so its a shame it dosent work for you

You poor thing!!

I went on meds for the vomiting around 7 weeks, I was throwing up up to 5 times a day without it! I wish I could remember the name of the pill I took, but it was the second one they tried (first made me really dizzy) and I had to hold it between my lip and gum. It majorly cut the vomiting down to once or twice a day, but I had to take it after every meal.

Medsafe Unisom Info Hope that helps. Perhaps talking to your midwife or gp would be a good place to start? When I was taking Zofran Im not sure exactly what dosage it was, but I took 1 tablet each day. It worked for a week, but then the nausea and vomitting came back. So then I just tried to take it on the days where I knew I had to go out and do things.... and that seemed to work better than taking it every day. Good old Doctor Google is where I have read about Unisom. It sounds quite good so I just think I will try it. I took Zofran from the start of 2nd trimester almost to the end in my last pregnancy and it helped heaps but was super expensive. What dosage did you take? I was taking 8mg tablets 3x a day at one point! Baby turned out fine, thank goodness.
have you tried good old Dr Google? I found a site when researching Zofran that listed all the anti nausea meds and their side effects, and how safe they were etc.

I get severe morning sickness. With my 1st daughter I couldn't hold anything down, lost 12kg and was constantly dehydrated. I tried all the natural remedies but nothing worked. I ended up taking zofran in the 6th month as I couldn't take it anymore, but was a bit reluctant. It worked some of the time but not all.

Now I am pregnant again, only 7.5 weeks but the M.S has kicked in again. I have read a lot about Unisom. Has anyone taken this and if so what dosage is recommended?
