I would say its the Gold formula, those are really bad for giving bubs a sore tummy. I would try him on the regular S26, thats all I ever used for my fully formula fed baby and for Bella when she was breast and formula.

It wont be reflux, with reflux is usually starts when they are newborn and they REALLY scream and cry and and hunch themselves up, Bella had bad reflux and she spilled up at every single feed.

I would say its the gold formula.

Is their egg in the custard? It could be an allergic reaction to that? I've just found out that my DS was allergic to egg white.

But definitely a food thing and not reflux.

Has the refusal coincided with when you introduced the formula?

Thanks ladies,

for a bit more info...

I have recently started him on formula for lunch and dinner as I couldn't produce enough milk to satisfy him It's S26 Gold Progress.

His food is;
B - Breastmilk, Farex Museli mixed with water and fruit
L - Formula, either custard & piece of fruit or veges
D - Formula, veges & meat combo (canned stuff seeing as he wouldn't eat the homemade stuff)
During the night I'm still breastfeeding him if he seems hungry..sometimes I feed him but it doesn't seem like he's actually hungry

I might actually take a note of exactly what he's having and how he sleeps to see if there are any possible intolerances - I hadn't thought of that actually so thanks

Coming in from the angle of food intolerance, it sounds like he does have reflux, and it will be more than likely as others have said caused by a food.

My boy didn't get diagonised with silent reflux until he was 11 months. This reflux was more than likely due to an issue with wheat products.

Is he breast or formula fed? If breast have you changed your diet recently? If formula & it's been teh same, is there a form of solid food that you've started feeding recently?

I found my boy would eat breakfast happily & the rest of the day would go down the toilet. Half the time he was having wheat biscuits for breakfast!

unlikely to be reflux at that ages with those symptoms. The vomiting could be he is a bit full and maybe spending more time on his tummy so more likely to vomit.

The texture thing could be related to teething as could the sleeping but to be honest in my experience babies go through all sorts of funny phases where they sleep badly and eat fussy and you never can figure out what is wrong, and then all of a sudden they go back to normal.

Trust that instinct! I wish I'd stood by my instinct stronger - rather than let the docs make a 2 minute assessment that DD was fine. It took 5 months of fortnightly doctors visit to finally get them to take me seriously and give me a referral. The specialist had us on the urgent waiting list for surgery about 5 minutes into our consultation. If I'd fought harder, sooner, (I still had to fight hard at the end), I'd have saved my girl MONTHS of pain and suffering Don't let them make you feel like a paranoid first-time mum - you know your baby so much better than they do, whether he's your first or your last.

Anyway, no, probably not classic reflux, more likely an intolerance or allergy to something you are feeding him. If he's suddenly taken up regular spilling when he didn't before, something is definitely not right. Normal baby spilling starts pretty close to birth and is usually associated with milk/liquid feeds.

Fingers crossed it's something fairly easy to eliminate if its a food allergy!

If it is a recent thing then I would think it isn't reflux. Reflux usually appears within the first month or two of a babies life, and is often gone by 6 to 12 months.

I would agree with Maya22, and think it is probably to do with a particular food that he is eating.

I may be looking for an issue where there isn't actually one or at least not reflux but someone put the thought in my head

Noah has recently started to refuse his lunch and dinner solids and when he does eat has become quite picky about what he eats...for example he used to eat home pureed veges not problem but has started to only want to eat the canned stuff ( ), cereal and custard or yoghurt type foods go down well.

He has never been a great sleeper but has started waking more frequently at night and is harder to get down for his day sleeps to the point he gets overtired as after an hour of trying I have to give up.

Almost every day in the afternoon or evening he vomits a little bit and it smells very acidic.

He's 8 months old on the 26th and hasn't had anything like this before now.

Does this sound like reflux? Or like anything anyone else has come across with their bubs?

Before reflux was suggested I did have that gut feeling that he wasn't 100%..should I follow that instinct and take him to the drs or am I just being a neurotic new mum?
