My MW just gave me the number to ring for the free Hutt Hospital accupuncture for my scaiatica (didn't even know that's what I had, just told her sometimes my tailbone is so sore I can hardly move). So will let you know how that goes. I'm not looking forward to the needles lol, but everyone I've spoken to said it fixed them so will just have to put on my big girl pants

Hi , I am having accupuncture at the moment cos I'm 7 weeks preg with number 2 and have been having some trouble sleeping. It definitely helps and has given a bit of alleviation of the morning sickness too, though it's still very much there! I had reflexology to try and shift my son who was 18 days late. It didn't work in my case (he was determined to stay put) but does work in many cases and may be more appealing to those who don't like needles. I had it in the first trimester because I'd been having it to TTC and thought it might help keep things healthy and help with MS etc. Then I had it again in the last month in the hope it would help with a quick easy labour and bring it on earlier. No such luck - though I went into labour naturally and wasn't induced (10 days over) so who knows how different it would have been. I had it when I was pregnant with Riley at 38.5 weeks to help prepare my body for labour, I got the start of my show that night and two days later I went into the early stages of labour and he was born the next morning. They also put in a couple of needles for heartburn and sciatica and both disappeared straight away.

I was a sceptic before this but am a convert now! I had acupuncture from 36-42 weeks. Unfortunately it didn't bring labour on but not through the fault of acupuncture (DD was stuck and head twisted).

I had it to help me get pregnant, to help with M/S, and to induce me when i was over.

Bowie, i had it once on my due date to help my body prepare for labour than once when i was 10 days over. He told me i would go into labour within 24hrs and it was just over that.
I would ask if the practioner has worked with preg people before and especially if they do it to induce labour. And maybe if they give any naturopathic stuff afterwards? (I got given some drops as well). Has anyone had accupuncture for an overdue and had success? Because if someone tells me the baby will shoot right out, i will be booking me an appointment straight off. Oh, and are there any standard questions to ask when making an appointment? My MW would do accupuncture for $10 a session. But the pregnancy specialist I saw charged me between $40-60 depending on what she did.

Swimming is great for spinning bubs. I had a posterior birth with daniel. You mean posterior to anterior? I have never had acupuncture, I'm a bit of a wuss. Also doesn't it cost quite a bit? I have had a couple of sessions to get an anterior baby to be posterior... it seems to have worked as baby is now in the ready position (if only he would engage!)! I would definitely do it again.
