I used my Moby wrap with DS2 for a good 6 months regularly and then occasional use after that. I didn't really like any position other than facing me, didn't find facing out very easy for comfy for me. I have just progressed onto a manduca which arrived today. Straightforward to use as I have managed to get DS1 in a back carry and DS2 in a front and back carry in the few hours I have had it.

I think if I had to choose again I would probably still choose the Moby for the initial few months. The stretchy wraps gave a real closeness and was really comfortable. Having said that I have never carried a newborn in a Manduca

I, too, also have a frontpack and don't like it at all, plus baby really dangles in it. And it is far from comfortable.

I had a unido sling and it was really easy, just put over your head and baby in it and you're done. Also folds up tiny to go in your bag.

There was a gap in time though that I found he didn't fit in the baby positions but couldn't quite do the hip sit, which was a bummer. But as soon as he was able to do that I started using it heaps again. Probably up till 9-10 months and he's a big boy.

I bought a mei tei around the time he was getting too heavy for that and really like that but haven't used it for a little bubba yet. I had a meitai sling for my little one that I got from Oyako designs (google it, she has a website). It was the single best thing I had for my baby and I used it everyday until she was at least 6 months old, for her naps when she wouldn't settle and when we were out and about. I liked the meitai cos they are simple to do up - I was a bit daunted by the ones with metres of fabric tbh! Never heard of a baby wearing group - that sounds good, I will look into that.

I just want one that is easy to wear and use, and quick too, litterally sling it on pop baby in and off we go. Something that I am confident in wearing and allows me to hold DS1's hand and walk about do things like kindy gym, play group etc...

Though the more I think about it, since you're still pregnant, it could be tricky to tell - and if you want a sling recommendation to get you through the interim between baby being born and you maybe being able to get to a meet, I'd highly recommend a stretchy wrap. Depends on what you want really, are you near Auckland, Wellington or Hamilton? There are babywearing groups there that you can go along to and try different slings to see what you prefer.

I personally wouldn't be without my Manduca, though. Have you looked into the different types? Slingbabies has a great page explaining each type. http://www.slingbabies.co.nz/Site/Home.ashx

Stretchy wraps are great for when they are babies, you can hold them nice and close.

I really liked my ring sling when DS was a newborn, and I should start using it again now that he can sit up well.

But I love my mei tai the best. I bought a Baby Hawk off trademe (I think the seller was Scarecrow Farm). I've decided to get a sling for baby 2 with the hope it'll help me get out and about when he comes along, I had a front pack for DS1 and we both hated it, it was hard to put on and I couldn't really do anything when he was in it - can anyone recommend a sling that they really heavily used and loved.
