Author: ginger
Subject: 38109
Posted: 22 February 2011 at 10:53am

Don't forget - dogs are pack animals, and have a very strong sense of their place in the pack. His place in the pack has changed with little warning eg. he hasn't been 'challenged' and been through the process that would happen in a pack, he's jus suddenly another rung down the ladder. It takes them a while to adjust - just be patient. Obviously, don't let them be naughty and watch for any 'challenges' to baby, but try not to push him away too much either - licking is a submissive behaviour for dogs (it's just a bit gross!) so if he's turned away too much, it'll potentially upset the apple cart more. Licking the face (especially near the mouth) is a strong submissive indicator, so maybe just watch your dog with baby, but let him work it out for himself. Peeing for dogs is marking, so that's a more defiant behaviour.

I hope that makes sense We have 2 dogs and went through all of this with them when Cuinn came home, and no doubt will again when the new baby comes into our lives.

Take about 4 of them and fold into a square, put the paper towels on the wee and stand on it as hard as you can occasionally blotting it up and down with your foot. Depending on how much there is you might need to do this a few different times. If you don't feel like standing there put a big heavy book on it (that's what I do ) It comes out perfectly.

No idea why he is doing it, it might be the new baby but it could also be because he didn't want to wee out in the rain. Sounds like my spaniel who's a bit of a priss when it comes to getting wet!

He came over and licked DS's foot and i told him no, bed.

So he walked over there and started peeing on the floor!

Act of defiance/attention seeking?
Busting to pee?
Sick/bladder infection or similar?

How is the best way to get dog pee out of carpet?
Do they return to the scene of the crime like cats do?
