We went cold turkey with both. The thought of it was worse than the reality.

I read him a book while he is lying on his back and then i leave him in the cot with a couple of books and when i leave he either stays lying down or sits up and reads for a bit and then lies down and goes to sleep. They just know. But yes they do sleep on their tummy and all over the place. Occasionally i have found him awake but happily sitting up reading 20-30 mins after bed!

Did you just go cold turkey? How did that go? Did you have to keep going in and lying them down or just leave them to it? DD doesn't seem to get the idea that she has to make herself lie down to get to sleep! She's a really good sleeper, still having 2 naps in the day and 12 hours at night. I hate to think this could change

Both mine 2 have rolled about in the safe T sleep and so I just got rid of it without any problems. Not being in it, also helps them figure out their most natural sleeping position- as soon as we got Tom out of it he started sleeping on his tummy.

You can buy safetly rail for beds if you are worried she might fall out of bed.

If it's a problem now in the cot then it's also going to be a problem in the bed.

We stopped the safety sleep when ds could roll over in it as then he would turn around too and end up so tightly bundled he'd be screaming! There were no issues at all getting rid of it, no difference to sleep whatsoever. In fact his night sleep got better i think. He never wakes now.

To look at it the other way at least you'll have her weaned from the safety sleep before she goes into the bed. You might just need to get a safety rail or something for the bed instead.

DD has happily slep in her Safe T Sleep on her back since 7 months after being weaned from a swaddle.
She has just recently (13 months) started rolling over onto her tummy. Doesn't seem to matter how tight I do it up she gets there!!
She falls asleep on her tum no problems but wakes in the night upset that she can't roll back.
I have thought about weaning off altogether but would like to keep it on for transitioning to bed which will be happening in a few months as baby 2 is on the way.
Any thoughts / advice would be most appreciated :)
