thanks all, it has eased a bit we are calmer in general, he hates being naked but we are having some awake times where he is not screaming, in the hour and a bit he is up I feed feed feed, fine for now as DH is around but not sure how it will go when DH goes back to work.

yip sounds just like how our number 2 was as well, always hungry and crying and wanting to feed. i had competely forgotten that newborns need to feed all the time. With number one it was so easy to sit on the couch and feed all day, but having another one it makes it really hard.
i just had to go with it, i rocked, cuddled, walked around with him, out him in an electric swing, jiggled, put in the pram and wheeled around the house and over bumps and wore him in a sling. this all helped as did feeding every 1.5 hours.
Is your DH home to help out look after your other son so you can feed more?

Sounds like my boy, he feeds to sleep and that is about it. We've recently been able to get a bit more 'happy' awake time when we can change his nappy etc so it seems to be getting better.

Agree with Bizzy, I was pretty much tied to the couch for the first 5 weeks until a decent supply was made. The other thing is that babies' hungry and windy cues can be very similar - maybe try making sure you wind him really well, and possibly try burping him after a nap and before a feed.

Oh and also - dummy. Yeah, Chloe was like this for the first few weeks. Feeding or crying all the time, couldn't put her down, etc. I think it's pretty normal for such a new baby.

I would say to just go with it at this stage. It is a natural way for baby to build a good milk supply in you!

If it continues, and if you had a traumatic birth, perhaps taking bub to an osteopath might be a good idea? Sounds very normal to me both mine used to cry heaps, very stressful at the time and makes you feel so unsure of yourself. DD would wake up starving and I had about 30 seconds to get her latched or she would have complete meltdown and then become impossible to latch.
I remember at 6 week check Miss I was crying so hard (because nappy had to come off) Dr was like oh dear is she hungry but I had feed her just before! I felt so embarassed. It took a good 8 weeks for them to stop crying at nappy changes etc and I hope it doesn't take
that long for you!

M and Miss I didn't have an inbetween either it took along time but they are happy babies now and only cry when hurt or very overtired.

Remember everything is new to them now they are outside and he will have to get used to sleeping without you (unless you want to co-sleep!). Alot of people recommend slings for during the day but I never tried that.

ETA if you are really concerned as the post above says get your nurse to check him

Has he had his hip check done, was it an easy birth?

Been a little over a year since my DD was born but didnt want to read and run...


Reason im asking re easy birth is you do hear of stories about dislocation or broken bones very low chance but if you are feeding, changing lots of cuddles and hes poo'ing and weeing fine and no temp then it must be something. Even though i've had one baby, all my knowledge seems to have vanished.

DS2 is a different boy for sure, he came out crying and hasn't really stopped since. He seems constantly hungry, he is taking breast and bottle, if he is awake he is making hungry signals, chewing fists etc....we also seem unable to put him down, so currently he wakes, he cries, he feeds until he sleeps pretty much......does that sound normal.

DS1 didn't really cry for food but he was a very lazy feeder.

Just don't be able to put him down at all or change a nappy or dress him or do anything without him being very cross, whilst I don't mind too much loving the cuddles, bit wary of all the crying.

He naps ok, just seems that at the mo he is either starving or hungry and there is no inbetween
