Thanks for reaching out to ask how things are going... That's kind of you. No fertility news from me- just have to wait it out until I am on Public list next year and see what happens then. Not much else can be done. Still have guilt from borrowing $14k from family for private IVF and with no outcome :/ i have to learn to live with it! Trying to move on a bit too in case having children just isn't something we are fortunate to do in our future. Hope you are well?

Have been TTC for 3 years. x2 IVF private as found we can't rely on public system. We are eligible for Public IVF in Jan 216, but won't be seen until at least August 2016). Both IVF so far have been unsuccessful and now we think it's due to egg quality :/ unsure what to do now?! Anyone have experience with poor egg quality? I have very good AMH levels but seems like they are just not good ones. Last IVF finished last Thursday with 8 eggs collected and NONE fertilising. Last four days have been some of the hardest grieving I have been through- hormones come down doesn't help! Any words of advice welcomed :/

We all have 'our' time, no one is the same.
I've read a lot about age and fertility and I think give it until 43 - that seems to be the most common age I've read that fertility goes down closer to zero.
Hang in there :-)

I was never able to get pregnant and can't imagine the pain a miscarriage can be knowing it was so hard each month when Aunt Flow turned up was awful enough. I was privately funded as we are 'unexplained' and would have had to have waited for 5 years before being able to go on the public funding wait list and I am 37 so we didn't want to wait another 2 year before then going on a 12 mth waiting list knowing that we aren't getting any younger. My BMI was also too high for public funding
We have a frostie and will wait until little miss is 1 before we try again and have the frozen transfer, so that will be around August next or so

BG - Sorry to see you have not been successful and I hope by some miracle it happens for you before the end of the year. Glad you have one little miracle but I am not looking forward to the trying for another, knowing how hard it was the first time. We would really like one more, but I guess we will have to wait and see and hope that it happens

That's two since our DD, hard pill to swallow. Don't really belong anywhere as we are not ttc for a few months so thought I'd pop in here and see how our older Mums are getting on!
DH and I are going to start ttc again in Jan and that will be our last go - 3rd time lucky?! We cant go on like this, we have to call it a day at some stage. I will be 41 in a couple of months, I have to be realistic about another pregnancy working. Clearly we have an egg problem! We are going to make some changes when we try again - DH is on menevit and I am embarking on a exercise and healthy eating plan. If it doesn't work then at least I can say we gave it our everything.
I never expected to have two more miscarriages, I so thought my body would know what to do after my DD. This is a tough ole road that's for sure.
Hope everyone else is doing ok

Been a bit quiet in here of late, must get things ramped up again!
I can so relate to you about trying to again - I found the early days really hard as well. Actually to be fair I still have days where I just want to hide under my bed. haha..! Being a Mummy is hard work that's for sure. I'd dearly love my little girl to have a brother or sister but I do feel a little worried about coping with two. I think there would be too many regrets if I got to 45 and the only reason why we didn't try again was because it might be too hard. I want to have another baby, I really do - I hope fate has something nice in store for our family soon.
Good luck Lulu, hope it happens for you soon.
Hope everyone else is doing great as well!
I used to chat on here when ttc years ago and thought it was time to come back!
I was in 2 minds for a long time about having another, as I didn't overly enjoy the first time around, but know that I want a wee brother or sister for my wee man. I'm not charting or anything, as I don't want to get obsessed and all the highs and lows that come with it... I'm taking a more if it happens it happens approach:) good luck to all you ladies and I hope to read a bfp story on here soon:)!
Oh, and I have a half an operational uterus which doesn't help things... Bicornate uterus... But it makes pregnancy quite high risk depending on where the foetus implants:)!
My acupuncturist has given me a paper chart to fill out and bring in to her on my weekly appointments. I thought about using FF as well but decided that if it were at odds with what she told me I'd just end up really confused In fact, we're pretty certain I ov exactly when I always have, and my cycle length is the same as always - so she's really looking at it to establish what else might be the problem. Really interesting tho'. How bout you? You still charting? (Sorry if you've already mentioned).

In saying that, this is our 3rd cycle since m/c and think I'll be feeling a little disappointed if no bfp this cycle too - such a contradiction to feel scared to be utd and disappointed if not. I understand how you're feeling about the first tri - it's what scares me most. I've decided that pregnancy after m/c defies all the laws of common sense - in life you learn that if you do something once and it causes you physical or emotional pain then you're stupid to do it again... but in this instance it just feels right to carry on despite the potential hurt... there's more to gain than lose.
I can imagine how watching your wee girl would reinforce your want for another baby. In a slightly similar way I see my 2 nephews (3 and 1) and so want for them to have a cousin. I think it's wonderful you feel that way - it's really clear you're not over yet!
So here's to 'next time lucky' for us (that includes Mrs I and any other oldies lurking around in here lol)...
Nutmeg how are you doing? Hope all is well with you all.

I really, really understand the fear of m/c'ing again.. what a nightmare. Last time I went into hospital for my d&c the staff knew me! But I've decided that I'll try overlook the chances of it happening again and give it another shot. I've already made some decisions around how I'm going to cope a bit better if I get utd again (like not doing serial hcg's - total waste of time as mine have always been fine while the pregnancy hasn't been - they just do my head in), and letting my boss know as soon as I get bfp so he understands why I'm not myself (he knows of our losses). I'm hoping that by deciding on some coping mechanisms now I might be calmer when/if i get utd.
Mrs I, so sorry your IUI hasn't worked out for you - good on you guys for taking a holiday - so envious! Sounds wonderful to go away and concentrate on the places, sights and each other without thinking about ttc - I wish you the most wonderful time!
BG you're right about the cost of acupuncture - a little expensive, but I think other than this I won't be trying much else - like you I'm over specialists, tests etc... time will tell though, so often things come up that make you change your mind about how to go about this journey.
You are both in my thoughts right now - hope to keep hearing of how you're both doing, take care.

We've had lots of tests and apart from my AMH (1 pmol/l) level, everything else was in order.

I had an Angel baby in July 2012 (at 11wks + 1 day) and have just done my first IVF cycle (private, as AML levels don't count). I received a positive result on Thursday but low 31 HSG level. So another blood test this morning, and unfortunately, HSG levels have dropped to 8, so not successful (this time).

So back to the drawing board. I've just ordered 30 ovulation strips from baby4you and joined fertility friend, so I can start charting again. Can anyone recommend a good acupuncture (or something) in Auckland (preferably on the Shore).

We have been trying for No. 2 now for almost a year. I miscarried twins back in Feb and only really back on the horse again now. Prior that to that we conceived our daughter in 2011 after three consecutive miscarriages. So its been a hard road....I am hopeful I'll get to do it all again soon, just have to keep being positive about he future. I am 40 now so definitely hear that clock ticking!
I'm sorry to hear you lost your son at 16 months. That would've been devastating for your family You have had a tough time with that and all your miscarriages - I hope you have some luck with the naturopath.
How are you feeling Pepi? You must be testing soon?

My wife and I have been trying since Aug 11, yes with the help of a donor lol!

I've been pregnant twice and carried to 12 weeks then lost them. It turned out to be anti-thyroid antibodies, so I've had an amazing naturopath (from Motherwell in Mt Eden, Auckland) work with me since April 2012. The antibodies are now more than halved and my thyroid seems under control, so now we just wait for that elusive BFP.

I've also been having regular acuouncture, cranial osteopathy, and the thing that has helped the most (apart form the naturopathics), is hypnotherapy to help me relax. You know so many people tell you that you must relax and that they conceived when they relaxed or took a break or gave up trying? Well that's not an option for us as we must chart and time inseminations closely, so the hypnotherapy helped me to relax my mind and not obsess quite so much. Highly recommended! I have my lady's details if any one wanted to give it a try - she's based in Whangaparoa and has a clinic in Northcote too, specialises in hypno for fertility / infertility and post-miscarriage.

Best wishes to us all!

I know a few of the names on this thread, babygiraffe was Mrs Hopeful, tarns, and Scaredy Cat, I remember you all from when I was TTC and endlessly having mc's (I was MB, you might remember me). Anyway, for me we finally proved my oven didn't work properly and we went down the road of adoption and Homes4Life but to no avail as got really annoyed with CYFs for reasons I won't go into on here (mostly lack of communication and empathy). Anyway, last year a long-time friend offered us her 'oven' and after a lengthy legal process and another IVF round, she is now 13 weeks pregnant with my husband's and mine baby - we are soooooooooooo lucky!

Edited by AnAmazingGift - 18 February 2013 at 1:42pm

I guess I just have to take what comes, because unless my body is ready nothing will happen either naturally or with IVF! And of course because I had a baby with IUGR I am high risk to have that problem again so will go under a high risk team anyway so want to make sure I am as prepared as I can be to try and prevent a repeat of my teeny tiny boy!

Edited by Minny - 17 February 2013 at 8:31pm

My boy was born 10 weeks premature last month but is doing great,

It seems wrong somehow that we are already talking about #2 but age is really not on my side as I will be 40 at the end of the year. We conceived #1 with IVF, and will most likely have to use the same again, which I don't mind, but think we will try naturally for three months before heading back to FA. We have decided to start that three months once our boy is 6 months old, then if no luck return to FA when he's 9 months. To be honest I am struggling with this decision, but also don't want to wait too long because of the higher risks involved with high maternal age. It's so hard! I really just want time to enjoy my tiny boy,

I suppose that even if I fall PG at 9 months, I still have 9months again before no2 comes along, but somehow still feels too soon!

After a m/c your chart will be all over the show, i know mine were. I would just keep temping and recording your cm - a picture should show for you soon. If you temp is up and staying up then chances are you have ov. A HPT wont tell you if your hcg levels are right back down to zero, the only way you can do this is from a blood test. I see your m/c was about 6 weeks ago? It might take a few months for your body to get back into the swing of things.
Jen, Fertility Friend are amazing - I've used them for years. And no, I dont take any supplements (apart from folic acid) - I just try and eat healthy. Although easier said than done!

I am 39, turning 40 in July. We are TTC at the moment. I had a missed miscarriage in Aug, after falling pg on the first shot. I am hoping this bodes well for future TTC. I used to have a regular cycle that you could set your watch to but I am not sure if it is regular now. It makes working out when I am ovulating very hard. I have been charting my temp since a week before OV. It went up, up, up, then down, then up, up, up and stayed up. I was hoping this would tell me when I am OV over a few months but now I'm just confused. Maybe I'm not ovulating yet? I have done one HPT after the miscarriage, right before my first AF as I had a few symptoms. It was negative. Does this mean my HCG levels are back to 0?

Are you testing soon? Not sure if your ticker updated between your last 2 posts? - and yes, Choco69, a sibling sounds wonderful!
I've been lurking in the TTC thread but AF hasn't arrived yet after my d&c so thought I'd wait for that, then I'm back in the game!... How crazy to be looking forward to AF! Last time that happened I was about 12? lol!
Orca1.. thanks for the advice, sorry to hear TTC#2 has been such a long road, and of your losses. Will definately start making some enquiries.
Also, wondering if any of you have tried a more holistic approach to TTC and if so what? Just more out of curiosity than anything really.
I have been trying for 3 years for #2 and have had 4 m/c. After my 2nd m/c my GP referred me to a specialist obstertrician. This was because of the time we had been TTC and also my age. If I was you I would start making enquiries now as waiting lists can be long and there are a lot of tests that can be done to make sure there are no issues.

I hope things work out and you get a sticky BFP soon!

I am 38 and DH is 41, we have been trying to start our family for just over a year now. We have no problem getting UTD but sadly have had 2 m/c's over the last 7mths. I went into hospital last mth for 2nd d&c and asked the dr if he thought it wise to see a fertility specialist. He said not as in 50% of cases m/c's were unexplained and that I would be referred automatically if I had a 3rd.
DH and I are still really hopeful we will have our day, but I just don't know that drs advice was right. My GP thought it was a good idea to see specialist but other than suggesting I phone Fertility Assoc couldn't recommend anyone in particular.
Sorry such a long winded post, just wondered if anyone could share some advice. Just not certain of where to from here.
