You definitely have to have the covers! I never got quite into them, just tried it once and didn't have a proper cover so Han was soaked within minutes. I'm using flat nappies, and have since coming home from hospital. I don't find them too much of a hassle at all - another load of washing per day, but that's all.

Amelia seems much happier in them that disposables, and
we are using the Johnsons nappy liners which draw the moisture away from her skin. we have wonderoos and we had Fuzzis as well. prefer Wonderoos for fit.. wouldnt use them on a nb maybe from 5 weeks old on. My 12kg 14 month old still fits em with room to grow.

Since we already have a cupboard full of disposables we will prob wait till bubs can fit mediums, so we wont have to buy heaps of sizes. Cant think of any more questions now, thanks,..but when we do buy them i think i will need help to know how many inserts and boosters to buy! Hannah fitted mediums when she was about 2 months but she had really chubby thighs! I only had a couple of smalls and I wanted more but there was no point in getting more smalls when she fitted mediums. I know that Caitlin (Toni's baby) still has heaps of room left in her smalls and she was born 9 pound something I think. Once babies are about 3 months they only need changing about 6 times a day (depending on parents tho) so I found it was enough. I washed every night in winter and they dryed by the fire. In summer I would wash in the morning so they could dry outside. If you planning on using them with a newborn however, you will need more than 6 (prob 12).

Yep, you can prob get away with 2 sizes depending on when you start. If you have a tall baby, she will prob fit smalls then petites. If you wait a few months, then prob mediums and petite/large.

Trial packs - the daytime trial has the nappy, one insert and one booster (around 3-4 hours absorbancy). The nighttime trial has the nappy, two inserts and one booster (more than enough for little ones overnight). kellz i bleieve fuzzibunz have a money back for their trial if it is the wrong size. and you def need more stuffing for overnight. if you only had six nappies i think you would have to wash every day and when they are younger you may run out.

Aimee- At what age did Hannah fit in mediums? And is 6 really enough? Doesnt sound like many,..but then I have no idea! We dont have a drier so will be line drying them,..and inside (near the fire) in winter.Does this mean we will need more?
We have got some disposables to use for newborn,..but were hoping to go onto using fuzzi's when the disposables run out ( but again we have no idea how many we need- might run out very quick!).
Have heard that u should be able to get away with only using 2 sizes up to TT. Is this correct?
In the trial pack u can chose from day or night time,..does that just mean the night time one has more padding? Or are they different? How do u know how much extra "stuffing" you will need?
Do they need to be "fitted" to the baby,..ie- we think bubs might be tall if shes like her dad. Cos we dont have a rep anywhere near here if they do.

We use one size i think they are called wonderoos i think. I made a big chart thing and they were the only ones i could justify buying. We do only use them at night and they are pretty bulky but if i didn't stuff them full of so much stuff they probably wouldn't be.
If you are still in one piece this saturday vanessa theres a new shop opening up on the corner of avondale rd and breezes rd. or prefolds - they are more absorbent than flats and you can snappy them instead of using pins. and then later on you can use them as pocket stuffers too.

You can get microfleece liners to go with the flats. I think that's what I'd do. They are easy peasy.

God, we NEVER used flats...well i lie, we used them at the hospital - where the midwife had to show me how to put them on, but Jake and Taine were so little, they just slid off, and when they were on properly, they lleaked like crazy. Flushable liners - the only ones at our supermarket (NW) are the johnsons ones which you CAN'T flush. Umm, Fuzzi Bunz sell them, so do Snazzipants and some of the others I think.

Mediums are a good size Andie. Apparently if they fit a medium at 9 months, they should fit them until the end so I am hoping that Hannah still fits them when we TT. At the moment she has a little growth left, but once she is walking more she will thin out again. Several times I have thought she was nearly out of them, then she grew taller and we had to make them tighter again!

When Hannah was a newborn we used a combo of disposables, flats with cheap covers, and a couple of small Fuzzis. And to be honest, flats are good with newborns cos you change them so much, only prob is they dont have a stay dry layer so damp against baby. But they are definitely doable, we hardly used any disposables - manily flats. Well we have limited stock of disposables and have the cloth all ready to go so *hopefully* we will do the change over. Especially if I remind myself of how much we spent on fuzzis (and ignore their amazing resale value!).

I do have a one size cloth nappy though to be honest I'm not sure I'm convinced on it...it seems like it will be very bulky on the smallest setting so I might just save it until Maddie is older as a back up nappy.

Paws - that was Daniel and my plan to start with disposables and then go to cloth however we are still in disposables. Mainly because they are just so easy!!!

i'm also excited about using cloth nappies
we have booked a trial kit from the nappacino i went to which has the different types to try. i'm still to decide on which brand to use, cost is the deciding factor
but i was wondering......
a) has anyone used the 'one size' nappies and what did they think
b) should i wait until bubs is a little older before i use cloth or are they ok on a newborn?

Fuzzi's are very cool! They were the favourites of all we looked at (we investigated my friends huge cloth stash!). All our fuzzi's are stuffed and lined up ready to go under the change table!

Jess, Hannah fitted mediums from 2 months and still fits them now (11 months) with more room to grow. I have recently started using fuzzis on my 1 yr old. I just bought a six pack for starters and as finances allow I plan to buy another 6 or 12 pack. In the meantime, it's lots of washing & drying but I'm still saving.

If your baby is average weight, she may be able to fit into medium Fuzzis from 3 months old. you can also get hire kits to help you decide what you like and what suits you and bub - and some other nappy places do payment plans too - i think nap naps do (they are a fitted nappy) their site is here

also snazzipants have lots of diff packs made up so that you get to trial diff types and their prices are very reasonable - they are   over here

and many diff places do trial packs - incl fuzzibunz - at a discounted price and some with a money back offer too.

there are some threads here all about reusable ones...wil try and bump for you. As for me, I wouldn't use cloth for ages - just felt like it would take up too much of my time, and the neat ones are really expensive. Then Aimee showed me the Fuzzibunz site which offers a partial payment plan over three months and I worked out that with each payment, i was only atucally paying the same amount I would for disposbales. So we use fuzzis and they are brilliant. Am also trying one for Jake (thanks to Nikki) and it is really great. So am planing to get a new set in the next month or so, the next size up.
