Andrew is highly allergic to egg and dairy intolerant. We got moulds last year and we are just going to make our own eggs.

The Lindt Dark chocolate bunny is dairy free as well. And if you go to the ntolerance website you can buy a few dairy egg free eggs and bunnies. But so much cheaper to just make your own.

The Pams dark chocolate chips or buttons is dairy free. (but might contain traces due to same equipment but we never had an issue) or you can get chocolate from the allergy section or ntolerance website. Or do a search on any other websites for dairy free choc.

Jazzy what I did it made the mould separately & then heated them together cause by the time you'd filled them, the big ones' had half set. I just heated on a hot baking tray with baking paper on it.

I just use whittakers dark, or you could use the melting chocolate. I wanted one dairy free, I know now the pams choc bits are dairy free.

I got foil from spotlight. Comes in a big pack. I don't need to buy anything but chocolate this year

oh you have just reminded me I have a chocolate making kit thing, well it has the 2 pots & I have some moulds, must of got lazy as never really used it.

I have one little Easter bunny & 1 card with a few little bunny faces, one side only. So should go & get a couple more.

With the double sided ones do you just coat both of the insides & then stick the moulds together...can't remember.

What kind of chocolate are you using & do you wrap them in foil paper?

My Mum made easter eggs for me when I was little and so have been doing them for DD1. Each year since DD was born (we're doing it for DS now and will be for #3) I've bought her one of those little chocolate eggs with the ceramic egg cup. So shes got 12 of them lined up on her shelf. She thinks they're pretty cool. When she was smaller that was all I'd get her. I think ours will be a $10 limit. DS is leaving his current school at the end of the term so might get some small easter eggs to give out to his classmates, teacher and teacher aide since he will never see them again.

At some point in history, people combined Easter with a pagan celebration celebrating spring, Bowie (since over the other side of the world it's spring at that time of year). The eggs and bunnies are spring / fertility symbols that are leftover from that. Not that I have any issue with them, although I'm Christian - they don't *mean* anything to me, but I like eating the chocolate versions

How do you make a creme egg that sounds fun - do you have a recipe?

If i were in a position to have a child hunting eggs i'd go American on it and paint either hollowed out eggs or fake ones and decorate with feathers and sequins and things!

We do a little easter egg hunt where they may get 3-4 small eggs each and then they get 1 bigger hollow egg from DH & I. We spend around $10 per child. We haven't got the kids yet but they will get one each. Both sets of grandparents get them one each.

Last year we had an easter egg hunt and had lots of little eggs but in the end most of them got wasted. last yr the eggs cost $30 each child so $90 & they were not big just had toys with them & then the egg hunt eggs as well. So don't want to spend that much this yr.

We aren't doing easter with DD yet. However Mum always did hunts for us as kids. We had a trail each to follow made from little egges (cuties, marshmellow etc) then at the end we would find a hollow egg. Usually one of the small button ones. We probably got 8-10 little eggs each but that could be me thinking my stash was bigger than it was! I'm guessing now days it would cost her about $15 for each of us.

ETA we will probably spend more but only because DD is dairy intollerent and dairy free chocolate is expensive! If she was able to have normal chocolate I'd have a $10 limit.

How much do you spend on them & how many do you do per child?

Last yr we were out shopping & DH asked the kids which one they wanted so they could pick there own...cost heaps $$ & then I had to get some for an egg hunt.

This yr DS3 has said he wants a torch from the Easter bunny, I can always get him one for his b'day. I was thinking of mugs as they always come in handy & we did it one yr but not sure they would be excited by that now...There are so many to chooses from & don't want to spend too much or go over board, but there were some cool ones out.

Was thinking 1 egg each & a few to hide. They don't get eggs from anyone else now, the MIL now & then if they come up but not often.

So what are you doing?
