I had a Cambridge based midwife because I wanted to have the baby in Hamilton, at a birthing centre there so got someone who was close. I drove to her for my prenatal visits and she was there for the birth.
My postnatal visits were done by a midwife from Tokoroa Hospital - Christine McMillan, who was awesome and I totally recommend her! My Cambridge midwife just contacted Tokoroa Hospital midwives and they agreed to the postnatal visits and I just made a phonecall once DS was born to introduce myself and arrange the first visit.

Your midwife may be happy to do the postnatal visits from Te Awamutu though, it would be worth discussing with her directly.
