Author: yermasyada
Subject: 38836
Posted: 28 May 2011 at 2:55pm

Hi Catie, try giving Global Baby a call. They specialise in European prams.

I never wanted a 3 wheel pram, as I think they're quite long and not great for using on public transport, plus I just don't like them. So that ruled out about 95% of the NZ market

I don't like Bugaboo, as they're far too expensive and I think the seat is really low to the ground. I didn't like the thought of my baby being at the same level as a car exhaust

I did see some nice 4 wheel prams (sorry can't remember the brands now) but I felt I was making a big compromise with a lot of the features I really wanted eg: reversible seat, large shopping basket, adjustable handle (I'm quite tall).

Thankfully I spotted Global Baby on a trip out to Albany and discovered some wonderful European prams

I chose the 'Brevi Ovo'. It had all the features I wanted plus more! I wasn't on the look out for a modular system, but glad I did get one, as the bassinet was lovely for the first few months. Price wise, it ain't cheap but I got it on discount so it worked out about the same as P&T if you add on all the extras I got.

Brevi Ovo

Plus it makes me feel all special because I've never seen anyone else with one

Edited by Milliemoo

It does take up a fair bit of space in the boot, but I love the fact that the seat is reversible so my baby can face me when we're out and about, and I can see her at all times. It also has a great basket. If you wait for a sale at Farmers you can pick these up new for about $400 which is another plus as far as I'm concerned. If I had the money I would buy a strider 3+ which can take a bassinet and a toddler seat also, but they are far more expensive.

I bought a Steelcraft eden 3 wheeler when i was pregnant, but when actually using it after baby arrived found it cumbersome, tyres hard to blow up etc etc. So bought a Swift - best purhase ever (and no, I don't work for them!). I have a pretty small sedan and it fits in the boot no problems. the storage basket is surprisingly big, the harness is great, steers well, great on and off road (i take it bushwalking and along the beach almost every day). Great price too. I suppose the only thing is that all the covers etc are sold separately.

It is so easy to manoever, it folds up in a second and is not labourous at all. The "hood" also has an additional section so comes down lower than all others and keeps the sun from getting in baby's eyes. Not a bad thing to say about it- highly recommend!
