I had quite a lot of merino stuff and loved it, but I wouldn't have said it was a necessity through summer.

However, the last couple of weeks here I've been using it a lot more as it's suddenly got a lot colder!

She was a big warm baby though and our house was warm and well insulated.

But I would probably just stick with cotton if I were you and you're in a not too cold place, you could just put on two layers (ie bodysuit and AIO), and then use blankets for colder nights.

I bought lots of pants, sweaters etc as I thought babies needed to be kept rugged up but I've hardly used any of it, from about a month old they are little sweatboxes!!! Short sleeve bodysuits or singlets are all you need in those hot summer months.
