Hi ladies, I'm hoping we will be starting our first round of IUI in about a month. Wee just chose a donor and signed consents and will be trying a number of unmedicated rounds first off. Using Repromed in Auckland. I also see Loula George (naturopath) at Motherwell and Suzi Downie in grey lynn is my acupuncturist lol, and Ross Payn in Ponsonby is my cranial osteopath and Jeannine Dawson in Northcote is my hypnotherapist haha! Can you tell I've been at this for a while and am trying every option known to womankind to get it to work this time. I've had two MC at 11w,5d with a known donor (home insemination - I'm half of a same sex couple). For a recent update check out my update post from tonight in the TTC for longer than 12mths forum (I think it's called that).

Super congrats on the bfp on the 1st iui also Mummy83. Great news to see :) I hear you about being nervous, I hope you have a great 8 months of pregnancy ahead of you :)
I'm 17.5 weeks now so have the anatomy scan in a couple of weeks, cant wait. And thankfully my morning sickness eased last week.

Hey there.... We didn't end up going through with IUI... How did scan go Nats-mum? Miss-bling 30 how did your round of IUI go? I've got good news from our first round of IUI this time, I am preggy!! Took a preg test 2 days before bloods which was last thurs and couldn't believe my eyes when it came up positive!! Bloods Thurs of 103, then on Mon 1100:) but trying to not get to excited as anything could happen!! Next bloods next Monday and then 7week scan at end of month. Hi Mummy83, I just had a look in here and saw your post. I'm 10+5 now and it's been a bit hair raising with some bleeding but I've had 2 scans and baby looks fine, just don't know where the bleed is from. Oh and I have hyperemesis again!! (as luck would have it :) ) But apart from that, everything is good. Great that your period came back naturally and that your first appointment back with the clinic went well. June is just around the corner! Yep it's good to have this forum for a form of support. I find my friends are great but they don't truely understand what it's like to go through this journey so it's nice to be able to share it all with other people who understand! How old is your first miss_bling? Yes I had Gonal F with all my rounds first time round too. The first time it's pretty daunting injecting yourself but then (if you need more) u just get on with it:) Best of luck with your IUI!! Hiya... Was hoping there might be a IUI thread about. We're starting IUI beginning of June. TTC # 2. Our first was conceived naturally - took just 3 months. But this time around, no luck after 8 months, and I'm 38 so time is ticking. No idea what its all about but we don't get funded for anything so we thought we'd start with this and see how we go. Specialist has recommended Gonal-F with IUI - so looks like we're going with the works. Go in on the 23rd to get the run down on injections. My cycle would be due to start 26th. Anyway - it would be nice to have some friends along the way that know what we're going through... Nats-mum - how's your pregnancy going? How many weeks into are u now? My period finally came back naturally just before my daughters first bday and before our app at FA!! Had never been so happy to see it:) Anyway had our app...felt like home going back there and seeing the same specialist/nurse!! Was such a diff feeling this time round though as you prob felt too!! Oh right. Yes I know what u mean...IVF is soo pricey! Although I think people will pay anything for a chance to be parents eh! Yes accupuncture is amazing for all sorts of things including nausea!! Ohhh, I hope MS isn't as bad as last time...although it is a reassurance when you do have it... For us, 2 rounds of IVF, both government funded which was great, it would have broken us financially if we had to go private. Our IUIs were private though. I'm in Christchurch but am planning to go to an acupuncturist this time if I get excessive morning sickness again - was crook from week 5-40 last time! Bloods at 300 today so that's in the range (50-456) for 4 weeks preggo. Yay! I am thrilled it has worked so far first time around. Last time it was sooooo hard not getting anywhere quickly IUIs, IVFs then back to IUIs is how it went for 8 years! Phew!!

Update from me Mummy83 ! I started getting positive tests at 10 dpo and now I'm due to go for bloods tomorrow morning. The tests have been getting progressively darker which I can only guess is a good sign. I'm so hoping this is a successful pregnancy after just 1 iui this time around. Time will tell I guess.

Hi Mummy83,

I am 4 dpo iui and trying for our 2nd. Our first daughter took 4 rounds of iui to conceive in 2011. It was sooooo nerve wracking going back to FA again and getting the iui done but at the same time relaxing as I knew my daughter was at home waiting for me, if you get what I mean. I'll find out Friday week if we were successful, we have male factor low count issues, but with any luck it'll happen first time this time!!

Hi guys. Just wondering if anyone's had any luck with their IUI? We have an almost one year old daughter (17th April) and she was conceived through IUI (#4). We conceived the first round then mc then our lil miracle was conceived after two more rounds. We never thought was happen and it finally did! My partner has low sperm motility and I have pcos. Now we want to try again as we knew how hard it was last time and want to get onto it ASAP however I haven't had my period yet!! We've booked a specialist appointment for next month but I'm sooo anxious to be going through it all again!! I feel extremely lucky to have one lil bundle but would LOVE another!! Does anyone know what they might suggest if my period hasn't come back? I'm still bfeeding but only twice a day and my supply has lowered majorly. I will stop when bub turns one. No not yet, read that the trigger can give you false positives so don't want that

So another iui went ahead today, the numbers were really low but they were happy with the motility. I also had it about 10 hours after I ovulated so fingers crossed they catch it. For some reason I'm feeling more positive this round despite the numbers being super low (under a million post wash). We will bd tonight and we did it on Thursday and Friday night so I'm hoping there's already some up there. I thinking I might be reaching the point where I don't really know if I want this governing my whole life....we shall see.

He feels that iui is clinical enough and at least with iui it all happens inside me. He has strong views on it and the stigma of test tube baby. Something he has always felt too.
Plus he hates me having to get injections, bloods and scans - I don't mind so much but he is a protector.

I am kinda okay with it at the minute. I know I can get pregnant and have a baby and DH is all good. Now knowing I have pcos I can work with it and looking to get lap. One of these iuis has to work right??

How are we all this lovely long weekend?

Tulip - how are you doing?

Feeling very happy about this cycle with timing of iui. I wonder if I really did need the trigger? Can't do the blood test on the Thursday I should as away on a course with two guys from work so will just have to wait till the Saturday and results the Monday. Need to watch hpt due to trigger don't want a false positive.

In with Barbara on the 5th so that is good. Going to ask about lab and discuss what else we can do. DH is completely against IVF so we will likely use our funding next year for more iuis. Need to ask about keeping taking clomid or take a break. Iui timings don't work out again until after Christmas - a break will be good. Just hoping that this cycle is it for us.

How are you each doing?

Yes straight on to another clomid and iui. Specialist thinks that I've only got a couple of years left of regular periods so I haven't got any time to waste. Think we can get another couple in before seeing specialist in Dec and ivf/icsi booked for December.

Hope you're not feeling to woozy BC..... I can only imagine it could cause a very messy accident in what you're doing this morning. :0)

I know how you feel for bfn and date game. I have a spreadsheet and thankfully this one is a none weekend - likely to be off clomid for a while so cycle is likely to play up again.

I'm going to continue with progesterone pessaries until Sunday I think to try to delay AF. Was really stressful last month with having to have trigger and really felt that follies weren't ready. I honestly cannot believe I am writing this, but the nurse from FA called and said what I have been waiting for for so long! BFP!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing!!! My lap was publicly funded but all our fertility treatment iui etc we are paying for ourselves. We are in the "unexplained infertility" category.

Thanks ladies. Have been and had my blood test this morning so will find out early this afternoon. Not feeling too hopeful after hpt bfn at 11 dpo but you never know. If it is bfn, will be straight onto iui no. 2 for us.

My 2x laps and my hysteroscopy have been publicly funded but my ivfs and iui have all been privately paid for after the first ivf was succesful with dd.

That is strange, they have a doctor over here every second Friday only, which we went to intially but for the IUI's we had to come over to Hamilton millions of times for scans and then the actual IUI, is a real pain having to travel that far and miss half a day of work too, but you do what you have to do

Hi Girls
I had a hysteroscopy and I asked my health insurance if this would be covered but because there was mention of fertility, then they don't cover it. If you have a different reason such as endo with no mention of fertility then health insurance might cover it

Pittar Patter - I am in Tauranga but we have to go to Hamilton for FA and they did my hysteroscopy, which was $1085

AF not here yet, still have all the symptoms though. I did an ovulation test and it was positive, so did a HPT but it was negative :(

Icecream sorry I'm nt on this thread but wanted to say I was on th wait list for a public lap, they said 6 month wait but rung th other day that would have been 4 months. FA said in th waikato sh could get me on for suspected endo but not in bay of plenty where we had app, luckily live in waikato. Considered paying but sh said it would cost around 11,000 and we decided better to pay for a round of ivf. So I think it depends where you live a bit. We didn't have health insurance. Hope if you go ahead it goes really well xx

I don't take pain killers - had a few bad experiences. Can give me constipation which makes everything way worse!!

Fuzzle, it's definitely not over yet try not to be to disheartened.

Ice cream I also had a lap a couple of months ago... Everything was clear apart from my ovaries that looked like those of a 43 year old (I'm only 37). It did take a hood couple of weeks to recover though and I know it takes longer if they have to get rid of endo. I hope you are all snuggled and have dosed up on pain relief.

Icecream - I had a lap done 2 months ago for suspected endometriosis but they found no sign of it whatsoever. Everything looked all good on the inside. It took me about 2 1/2 weeks to be pretty much back to normal. In regards to numbers of sperm, they are more concerned with quality. Well I tested on hpt (which was past its expiry date - that's how long I've been TTC) this morning & was a BFN. I know at only 11dpo it is still too early to say I'm out but I'm not filled with confidence. Think ours was 6.5million and nurse said that was okay but as you say when you google it there are some super high numbers?!?
Surely they would not do it if numbers were not enough
And it only takes one!
Went all out this cycle and had another bottle of wine tonight!! It was good knowing before AF and as my LP is 16 days it meant I could drink before clomid on Sunday night

My fs say they aim for 1-5 million but everything I have read on the internet suggests that you get the best result with 10 million...and people are having double figure of millions of sperm inserted for iui. We got 1.8 first round then 2.5 in the second round and FS seemed really happy with that. Hi ladies, hope you are all well. My blood test is on Tuesday to find out if iui has worked but think I might cave and test tomorrow morning. Will be 11 dpo. I have been having crazy dreams all week & sore BBs. Hopefully these are +ve signs. I am feeling quite positive but I really am trying not to get my hopes up as you all know its devastating when bfn confirmed.

How are you feeling fuzzle?
I tested yesterday and today to see if hcg trigger was out of my system....there was still a wee bit yesterday but appears to be all out today. Very strange seeing two lines on a pg test. I'm feeling bloated but I put that down to the progesterone pessaries. Boobs not hurting yet which is great as they are normally throbbing by now but then I will go for months with them not hurting at all....all very strange.

Yeah they don't accept day ones after 2nd dec so it's been pushed to jan. Just a short plan so two wks of injections then collection. Got all my forms to sign today. Time will fly!

Phoofy I didn't get any spotting after my iui but nurse had said I might so I'm pretty sure it's normal.

Yep phoofy. I got a tiny bit after my first. Nurse said at the time she'd slightly nicked my cervix and it was nothing to worry about. Perhaps something like that happened for you.

Hello again. I had my ovulation pain this morning although it wasn't too painful....I'm thinking that because I triggered my follicle will be smaller than usual so therefore not so painful in rupturing....although that could be a whole load of crap! Well I've had it. 2.5 mil of Dh best swimmers inserted. I asked the embryologist about the life expectancy of the washed sperm and she said that as I'd had the trigger I should be fine.she seemed very confident. I also get ovulation pains so I know when I ovulate...makes things easier when ttc. Am hoping it will happen in the next 12 hours but I'm not feeing anything yet. I always wonder too about timing. I get some pretty obvious ov pain which with some of my iui matched the insem day and others it didn't. I guess a lot of it is educated guess work as unless they take the egg and sperm and put then together you just don't know what's going on.
Stink they don't do iui at the weekend! It is hard and I wondered if they did my iui too early. Original plan was 12 on cd14 but then called back and had it 4pm on cd13. As you said got to trust them - they do this all the time and they would want it to work too.

I gave self trigger shot last night as e2 Had gone up to 997. They trigger if it's over 600. I'm still not convinced that follies will be mature enough and also the timing of the iui as it's at 12 today. I thought the trigger was supposed to make you ovulate 36-44 hours after the trigger...in which case I'll be ovulating tomorrow and and the sperm will be no good as I've read washed sperm only last 24 hours. If I didn't trigger I think I would ovulate on Sunday or Monday in which case iui on Monday would be too late but they don't do iui over the weekend! I know I've got to just trust the clinic but it's so hard.
