Having said that, as far as I am aware you are covered for most other things except for the pregnancy part.

So for example, if you fall over and break your arm you're covered (as its not pregnancy related). But if you suddenly go into labour and need maternity care, you are NOT covered. Someone correct me if Im wrong.

Another thing to check is if the Airline will take you after 28 weeks. Some airlines wont.

Safe travels

The broker will probably require a release of medical info from your GP and midwife about status of the pregnancy and any pre-existing conditions which may cause issues with the travel. They may also stipulate that there is medical coverage for the pregnancy when you fly, however they may decline to cover cancellation of the travel for you and your partner if you request cancellation of the travel closer to the date due to pregnancy complications.

Additionally you may want to find out about medical support at the hotel you will be staying at.

I rang around several companies about two months ago trying to find insurance for myself and most will only cover up to 24 or 26 weeks pregnant. The only exception was ASB who will cover you up to 28 weeks and 6 days pregnant. All the companies I phoned would not insure me no matter how much I paid.

I hope this helps (although its probably not what you want to hear)!

Edited by peachy
