I should have thought of you first!!

Thanks for all the help everyone... going with him is not an option as he is a copper going down to police college. But I have decided to impose on my mother for a month!! It may not be ideal as she already has one house guest who refuses to leave but I think I need some company! I am not so worried about the baby/toddler but of it, I am more worried about going mad without someone to talk to at the end of the day!

Deb - I def get what you mean being sick of him after a month... sometimes he drives me nuts after a weekend!! At least at the end of it I'll be so excited to see him!!

Lizzle - after doing it by yourself I reckon night shift will be easy!! Haven't done it by myself yet but Andy used to do seven nights shifts in a row... I found it good, the only problem was keeping Quinn quiet during the day so he could sleep as our house is smaller than a matchbox but we usually just went out!

And remember, you will probably still be doing night feeds and getting over labour after 1 month. My advice would be to get your mum or another close friend to stay with you (as much as they possibly can), or have a 'roster' of friends that can come and help you out. If that isn't possible, are you able to have someone (or several people) take Quinn overnight once a week - then you only have 1 littlie to deal with.

Occasionally I have had my little sister (13yrs) stay and it's awesome for company as well as another pair of hands to hold baby or play with the preschooler.

Definitely the prep meal thing, and lots of "new" activities for Quinn (even if you just put some away now and bring them out during that month).

All the best! A month sounds like a long time!

My advice is to get into a routine as quick as possible. Have Dvds and books by your breastfeeding place for Quinn to lolok at while you feed. get lots of ideas for quick meals, and put some in the freezer while hubby is off work. (last thing you feel like doing is cooking). try and get out of the house as much as possible, even just a short work everyday is nice. remember that baby crying for a short time is okay. get a saafe place to put bubba if you need to pick up Quinn in a hurry. Portacots are great for baby to place in, in the lounge, while Quinn is there too and you need to shower or something.
