Around 6wks was when we finally sorted out our BF issues and I started to feel ok down there (sort of ). The last thing I would've wanted to do was pack up all the stuff I thought I might need for a newborn (and all my sanitary needs) while on holiday, get to the airport and go somewhere.
And as others have said - the baby could come early, or late...you might only have a 4wk old at Easter next year!
They do just sleep and eat a lot at that age though, but then that's probably all you'll really want to be doing too.
You might find that once the baby is here that your usual overseas holiday pales into insignificance once you see what the 2 of you have created...many hours can be spent lying together watching your baby sleep...

Also - I'm guessing that you won't be working 7 days a week for the whole pregnancy...maybe a compromise could be DH taking some time off work before the baby comes and you could go overseas together then?

I would find that really stressful. We did our first big trip when DS was 4 months and that was hard enough. It's just not that fun travelling with a small baby - you're exhausted from the sleepless nights, you have to drag around heaps of stuff, you're breastfeeding all the time, baby's sleeping most of the time. They're too young to have their vaccines at that age and very vulnerable to disease and infection, so I'd be worried about travel - bugs spread badly on planes & even just having a baby with a cold is a real pain. I don't mean to be negative or scare you, but you also don't know how your birth is going to go - bubs could be a couple of weeks later than your due date, you could be recovering from a caesarian ... you just don't know. Maybe a long weekend away somewhere close to home would be better?

Those first 6 weeks, strike that, 12 weeks are challenging. It wouldn't be an enjoyable or relaxing holiday with a baby that young. I'd rather just be enjoying the opportunity to nap while hubby can help out. And there is the issue of exposing your wee new person to a new germy environment - first the plane, then a new country.

Maybe I am wussy though? Interested to hear other's opinions.

Every easter we get 4 days for just the 2 of us. However next easter we will have a 6 week old as well.
Now last easter we went to Rarotonga for 5 days. Hubby is a bit upset that we won't be able to do something simular next year.

Does anyone have ideas or experience traveling with a new born?
