DH could have done it but we thought it was a good way to get dad involved (I am a daddys girl still!). We also asked him to check all the bolts etc on cot and change table and to make sure he thought the room was safe for baby. He loved it and took the job very seriously, was good for us to have a second pair of eyes check it over too

I think he finds that quite special cos he got to have a cuddle there and then by the time we walked round too room on the ward my ILs were there then not long after SIL was there, so things got a bit hectic!
Author: millemama
Subject: 39778
Posted: 03 July 2011 at 11:44am

Yeah, my mum passed 2yrs ago, so with this PG I missed talking to her about her pregnancies etc, and I did ask Dad, but it was a long time ago and he wasn't sure on most things, but I brought him along to my 12wk scan, he had never seen one, and he loves spoiling me when I visit, more noticeable this last time, cooked most of the meals, stuff that mum used to make, took us out for lunches etc and never let me lift anything or get DD out of the car once. So Rarrarrar is right, they do like to contribute and it doesn't have to be anything complicated.

Will even take him shopping with me for some newborn clothes, great idea!

He was sooo excited to do that- sound dumb but he was stoked :)

Also when I done a few things like went and picked up the pram I took him to be the man to carry the box to the car etc Even though I would have been fine to do it he was excited to be involved like I "needed" him.
