If your DD has a dairy intolerance it won't show up. Well that is interesting. Thanks :) I was talking to the doc about testing DD for dairy intolerance and he wants to do a skin prick test, but I couldn't work out how testing her skin would work. It's got nothing to do with digestion of food. People who are allergic to certain foods can be kissed on the cheek & have a reaction either small or big.

"In the evaluation of IgE-mediated (true) food allergy, the skin prick test identifies specific IgE antibodies to the suspected food."

Can someone please explain to me how a skin prick test is meant to determine the body's ability to digest certain foods? Forgive me, but I'm struggling to see how a reaction on the surface of the skin is meant to indicate the abilities of the digestive system...
