Nah Sue was her name, Domino called me today and said they were all booked up so thats everyone that ive called now(off websites and referrals)....starting to think my lil surprise was really at the wrong time :/

Oh Pinkie yes. When I was looking for Midwives they either didn't call back or were all on holiday too. See my reply to your other post.

I did finally find one lady that was free but then failed to call me back when she said she would. Not sure if this is my impatience or her lack of time management.....i feel like the hospital may be better at this point.

Yeah, depends whether you feel you need to be really close to your midwife or not. I used a Domino midwife from Auckland Hospital but because they are obviously overworked by 33 weeks when I went into early labour I had only actually seen 'my' midwife twice but had seen about 5 different back ups and ended up with a back-up for my labour who quite frankly was horrible. I had a hospital midwife, she had two others on her team.
The only time I had one of her back-ups was for an appointment when my main midwife was on holiday.
Nearer the end of my pregnancy she started giving me the back-up numbers for when she was on her days off as she has her work phone off in case I had any questions.

Depends on the hospital. Nelson does a 'know your own mw' scheme so you will see the same mw each time and have a back up, just like with independent mw's. Perhaps check with your local hosp.
