I second probiotics they did wonders for my baby's tummy issues, and he's been on losec since 2 weeks old so I think it was good to help restore the balance. And seeing a specialist was so worth it, it helped us to finally get on top of DS' reflux problem and figure out his milk intolerance. We found osteo quite helpful with my daughters colic and reflux. Have used a cple and found Grace Osteopathy in Mt Eden to be the best. Also, cutting out dairy from my diet helped, as well as caffeine, tomatoes and other 'refluxy' foods. Plunket family centres are also useful in giving you advice about what foods to avoid if BF and how to settle your baby.

I've found losec (Omeprazole) to be a big help too. Are you seeing a specialist? Reflux babies are such hard work. I got quite a few tips from another forum I posted on. I should try and find them. Hope things pick up for you soon

thanks for the reply, my friend also recommended the same place, so thats good to hear. It IS worth trying everything isnt it? Im sorry Osteo didnt work for your little one.. have you tried going off wheat and dairy? It has helped us quite a bit, maybe that will help your wee one too? But I also had to go off acidy foods (esp tomatoes, like in sauce and pastes esp), corn, beans, any spices and certain fruits too. So my diet is pretty darn bland right now. And its all about rice! haha But her wind is a LOT less (she had major issues, it was aaaaaawful!). But it took about a week to see the difference, its quite hard going wheat and dairy free I think, especially if you love your dairy like me, (and expensive too) because wheat and dairy are in EVERYTHING, but its worth it to see her have that relief finally.

The other thing you could add to the things you try is probiotics - I started my little one on these just a few days ago, I havent seen any improvement yet, but could take a while, up to a month, but I am big on this and its totally worth it and can only do good anyway. If you had antibiotics at all when pregnant or just after birth, I'd DEFINITELY get some probiotics into him, and you, and he'll get it through your milk too (if youre breastfeeding). Hi Safetyfirst

To be honest I didn't see any improvement :( We only needed two sessions as the osteopath said there isn't anything else he can do for my little boy.

My friend, however said it did miracle to her boy last year.

My friend recommended Anu @ Stillpoint who specialises in babies. (however that recommendation came after we went to the one in Kingsland)

Check your insurance policy, it might be covered.

Personally I think everything worth a try, especially when the situation is rather desperate :(

Hi hahahasam - did you go back to the osteopath and has it made any difference yet? I am wondering whether to take my 2 month old - I have tried nearly EVERYTHING I can find that promises a more settled baby and spent so much money on it all, but havent tried Osteoptahy yet. Who did you take him to see?

We went to our first appointment yesterday. So far our wee boy is still as unsettled as before. My twin boys have both had cranial osteopathy and their wind problems and bowel issues etc all cleared up. I am a big believer in this kind of treatment. Yeah I never tried it but I have heard good things from other people. I don't think you can cure it that way but it may help with managing symptoms.
