My 2yr old had his elbow dislocated (daddy felt terrible) doc put it back in and we were sent to xray..all good. Thanks for the help ladies! Now every time she holds it funny I wonder if there is something wrong Off to the doctor for us I think.

I second Meringue - get it checked at doc cos even though it is really common in some kids (Nephew had the same in his elbow) best to check it is not a "structural"issue.

First of all big hugs, its so scary when things like this happen!

I am a preschool teacher and have seen it happen a couple of times, littlies can be prone to it! The main thing is to get a doctor to put it back in again, even if its in now you probably want to get it double checked at the doctors tomorrow anyway. Also once you have dislocated a joint once it is highly likely that it could happen again so just being careful around that joint is the advice we have been given at preschool. SO yes totally common in small people, it may or may not do it again and get it checked at doctors always! We had a little boy that did it five or six times (he was a rough wee thing) for all different reasons so please dont beat yourself up about it, these things happen and it totally wasnt your fault!

I didn't want to read and run! Although I dont have any experience with this per say, at a La Leche meeting a while back a mum was sharing about this and a physio mum there was saying it is really common.

DD's shoulder got dislocated while I was putting her in the bath tonight . It fixed itself, and she seems fine now, but I'm now a bit worried.

Is this a common problem? Was it the way I was holding her? Will it do it again? What do I do next time?
