I know alot of people are scared of the idea but with my 12 year old, I organised to be induced at 41 weeks for work commitment with hubby (latter on he couldn't be there). As it was they said his placenta had started to break down and he needed oxygen for half an hour because of it. So it was just as well I didn't wait. I don't think he would have come otherwise.
If you are in that much pain maybe they will induce on your due date? For me all I needed was some cream on my cervix and about 1 hour later it was all go.
Good luck.

Because like it or not, baby will come when s/he's ready, not when you are (it's just the first of many times they'll defy your wishes, trust me ).

So try things like accupuncture that won't make it any worse, but otherwise, just rest and take it easy on yourself and your pelvis as much as you can. You'll appreciate having had the rest once bub is here.
