Author: Lulu
Subject: 40695
Posted: 09 October 2011 at 12:24pm

I have a four year old that is night time tt'ing. She also initiated it with requesting to wear undies at night. This happened around 3 months ago and started off well (I was also taking her for a 'dream-wee' at around 10pm). But then I was told that lifting her and putting her on the toilet was not a good idea for night time tt'ing as she didn't wake properly so it was not helping with her ability to wake herself when she needed to go. So since then we have left her, but unfortunately we are lucky to get one dry night out of every five. I am happy to persevere as I believe she is becoming more aware and it will just take time. I have two brolly sheets and I just wash them and her top sheet every day. I don't use dry nights or other alternatives as when I did for a couple of nights she basically just thought that this meant that she could wee in them. So not much advice from me except that it will come in time I'm sure!

It actually could be the temp drop that happens round that time. Have you thought about getting your DH to pop an extra blanket on him at 1.30 and seeing if that makes a difference??
At this age they're abit like puppies. Puppies can hold on for an hour for every month of their lives and TBH at just 3 they're still developing control over their bodies. My mum says (coz shes sitting next to me so I asked her ) stick with it and you'll likely find that over the next few months, specially with the warmer summer weather he should get the hang of it!

    Author: TansP
Subject: 40695
Posted: 06 October 2011 at 4:16pm

DS has just turned 3. He was toilet trained at 2 & 1/2 and only wore nappies at nap time and night. In the last month he has been refusing to wear a nappy to bed (especially for naps)and if we manage to get one on him I go into his room and find it on the floor.

So I put a waterproof mat on his bed and he has been fantastic during the day but wetting in the early morning 4am-5am. I lift him as I go to bed around 10-10.30pm and his dad does it again when he gets home around 1.30am (Baker!!). We have had a few dry nights with much celebration but I don't want to make him wear a nappy if he's ready to go without. I am happy to change the bed whenever needed as I am so proud of him for giving it a go.

My questions are: Do I need to cut down fluids at night? What is the latest you allow your little one to drink? Should I lift him again? Any advice on where to from here would be greatly appreciated.

Edited by TansP
