When do you express? The information I have from La Leche League says that fresh human milk can be stored at room temp for 10 hours so if you express in the morning then it doesn't need to go in the fridge and bubs can have it at room temp. However it depends on how may hours your bubs is in care and when you express.

i agree with the others suggestions, they should be able to cater to your needs, its not like a baby on EBM is that uncommon.

at my work we only have a kitchenette in the babies but we have a kettle to heat water for heating EBM

I think it is a bit stink if they can't heat it properly for you. Maybe they need to keep a thermos of hot water somewhere as surely other people have been in the same situation.

They must have water though, surely? Can't they just microwave some water till it's hot and then stand the bottle in it?

Our daycare has water in the sink by the microwave, in the sink in the craft area, in the bathroom and in the kids handwashing area - any of which would do seeing as the water isn't being drunk by the baby. Or failing that, could you send a big bottle of water as well, so they can microwave the water you send and then heat your bottles that way?

Seems like they are being a bit silly about it really. I'll talk to them. I don't think they'll have hot/boiling water in the under 2's room (safety). I'll ask if they'll take it to the kitchen. He's not starting just yet.

I'll be expressing at lunchtime for the following day. I used to warm my expressed milk in a mug of hot water (had to heat it, otherwise stuff would stick to the walls of the bottle). Water from kettle into mug, bottle into mug, give it 2 minutes, heated. Surely they could do the same?

I was thinking of those bottle heaters too Jacobsmumma, surely they would use one if you provided it for them.

Maybe a thermos of hot water big enough to take the bottle?

Don't they have one of those electric bottle heaters, that you put a bit of water in then place the bottle in?  You could always provide one and hopefully they'd use it.

I would of thought daycare would make an exception for ebm? There's all sorts of breastfeeding policies that they all follow, can they not take it into the kitchen and stand in hot water?

It's about daycare. The milk fridge (& microwave) for the under 2's is in their room, not the kitchen. They microwave all the bottles in there. I give my 6 month old DS EBM either at room temperature or I pop it in a sink of hot water for couple of minutes. He takes it at any temp if he is hungry.

Just out of interest is there any reason you have only put microwave as an option?

I have known of people giving their babies room temperature EBM and they've taken it.
