Goodie /snack bags are a good idea- espceially with a little juice or water bottle etc, and have them in your hospital bag so that snack and activities are all ready for them and u dont have to worry about it in labour!

Hey Kellz I remember you :o) Fantastic news on the progress of this pregnancy. That's one of the milestones out the way for you, the 11 week mark ;-)

I had a look at some youtube videos myself tonight - bad move LOL. Brought it all back!!! I will persevere and find some nicer ones!

So far the agreement is, that if it happens during the day time then she can come, but I won't be waking her up to go to the hozzie and she is cool with that. Unable to have a homebirth sadly....

I was thinking about making them both up some goodie bags with snacks, drinks, a new mp3 player, magazines and puzzle books. If she does end up coming, then the other daughter will have to come too and wait in the family room, seeing as we have just one available babysitter! "Luker" I was in this group originally but lost that baby at 11 weeks preg,...am now 11 weeks 1 day preg again and all looking good this time- due March.
We plan to have a homebirth and to have our 6yr old there because she wants too. Shes already been asking loads of questions and we have showed her a few pics about what babies look like when they are born,...where they come out etc.
When she was 3.3 years we planned a homebirth for #2 and had my dad oncall as DD's support person to take her to him place if at anytime she was finding it all too much or I was finding it too much having her there. Mum and DH where with us too,...and when she got too much for me, wanting to get into the bath with me while I was trying to concentrate on the labour- Dad came and took her and she went to his place and had a bath to be like Mum, lol. She came back about 1/2hr after DS was born.
I would say just allocate someone as her support person that can talk with her about whats happening and take her into another room or out of the house etc if needed.

I was at both of my siblings home births when I was 7 and 9 years old respectively. It was interesting, but I remember the whole labour period being really really boring. Only the end bit was interesting. I kept trying to sneak into my mums room and getting chased out because nothing was going on (other than labour). Not long to go now - 7 weeks :-)
My 6 year old has expressed a huge desire to be there at the birth, despite having all the facts laid out, she is quite adamant she wants to see her brother born. She has also acknowledged she can change her mind at any point and that would be ok too. My gut feeling is that she will handle this quite well.

My 8 year old has no desires whatsoever to be there and would rather wait at grandma's house. My feeling here is that she has made the right decision for her.

My mother and hubby to some degree, are not agreeable that the youngest should be there. I am of the opinion however that it is her wish which we can accommodate, and we are able to do all we can to ensure she is supported whilst with us at the delivery room.

Blimey, if I suddenly dropped at home with no chances of getting to a hospital, I won't be telling them to go wait in their rooms - they would be at my side if that is what they wanted....

I'm due on 18th Oct. I'm new to this, I'm 25 and going to be a new mum so very exciting and scary. I'm having baby at waitakere, we have a hospital tour this wk so quite excited about that. got doctor to check and they said anytime after 20 weeks is okay for Whooping Cough. You have to have tetenus and some other one at the same time, so yes it does give you a dead arm for a few days.

Hi ladies,

I'm a bit of a late joiner, been on the Huggies website til now, but realised how great OhBaby is (actually a kiwi website and women).

So I'm Rach, almost 30 (in two weeks time!), married hubby earlier this year, and then we were lucky enough (and excited!) to find out we're expecting our first bub! We live and work in Oamaru.

Am just over 25 weeks, due October 27th, and finding the second trimester much more enjoyable than the first! Got an ob appointment tomorrow, to talk about any risks / ramifications of having had a LLETZ procedure late last year, and need a second scan at 28 weeks to see if my placenta is still low lying or has moved. But otherwise pretty normal pregnancy.

Just high risk preg, I have high BP, (diagnosed about 10 years ago) I take medication so it's more just a precaution than anything else.

TTL the scan went really well I was so amazed how much baby has developed since the last scan. We even managed to not carve in and ask the sex so it's going to be a surprise (but i really think it's a boy). It was an active we thing was just on the move the whole time.
Off to the high risk clinic tomorrow and then midwife appointment on Friday, going to be a busy week.

That's exciting that your getting lots of kicks. I've finally started to feel baby moving about and know that it is baby moving, just getting small tiny kicks got a few last night (think it was having a party).
We have our scan tomorrow lucky it's going to be busy at work otherwise it would be a long wait until 3.30. I'm excited about seeing the wee one again but also a bit nervous.

Yay, DP finally felt little girl booting last night. She has started to kick up above my belly button now, so I think she must have snuck out from under the placenta and she's actually quite powerful! TTL - DH here cannot feel baby either for the most part - but the cat sure can , she flew across the coffee table when baby kicked her in the head and she was all fast asleep curled up. We have a list of girls and boys names we like about 3 or 4 for both. I think we've decided on a girls name. We just have to decide what middle name we will have to work out which first name works best.
We're both analysts so there has been a lot of analysis that have gone on. I'm so lost for girl names I've just not been thinking about it. The only one I even kind of like is the second choice from #1, and that feels a bit unfair. Here kid, you're going to have hand me down clothes AND a hand me down name. DH has no input, though I'm sure he's be keen to veto anything I did come up with.

Yes I too like those solid names. I was considering the name Robert after my Dp's uncle. Then my mother piped up that she liked the name Bobby, and then I got to thinking of playground taunts - Bobby the Blobby.... so needless to say, Bobby/Robert is out. So far I have Trent, Jake, Iain, Warren lined up. plus others..... The girls (one of whom is pretty devastated we are having a boy) are also adding names. The youngest has chosen Toilet, Poo, Rain, Gaga and Yuk. BayGirl - i have found picking a boy's name an absolute nightmare. See with girls you can go out all flouncy and get creative. But with boys, it has to be something that sounds good when his mates call him across a busy bar! Mine is the same, I don't really get good boots, but some rolling and she lurks in different corners now and then. Mine seems to react to music and singing pretty well, and usually has a bit of a wriggle when I first go to bed at night. DP still frustrated, he can't feel it.

Yeah most of us are on FB, it's easier to keep up with conversations etc. on there. I still check here every so often though, but don't post much.
I've also been feeling baby moving, but when I put my hand on my stomach to feel for it, then it stops! Still not 100% that I have felt any movement from bub, but if I put my hand on my tum, I can feel where it's lying...

Last night, DH was rubbing my tum, and he found bubs, and he's like omg my baby, but bubs doesn't like to be touched, so started moving away from his hand...DH then proceeded to play "whack-a-mole" with bubs for 10 minutes chasing it round my stomach...

It's so weird cause I still can't feel it moving, I just notice once it has changed its position...

Anyway, I just thought it was really cute

I woke up the other morning to the baby using my bladder has a trampoline. He must have spun around to 'stand' on it. 3 distinct bangs to my bladder shortly followed by a 4th for good measure. Yes, alright, I get the message loud and clear. L&G we are both due the same day.
I've had to book my own scans, just get given the referal form from the midwife and then ring up. Which good because then I can choose to go to the place near my work (and also close to DHs work).

Wombles I am the same in the crafty/nursery/renting category as you, and I am also not feeling much of baby moving yet, each day I fell a bit of a flutter but not enough to make me think there is a baby in there!

I'm just coming up 19 weeks and similar to a few of you I'm only just feeling small jabs but nothing that DH would be able to feel yet.

We've got our scan booked in, in 2 weeks time. We're going to be patient and not find out what we're having.

Good to see others looking on the bright side of the caesarean choice. I'm quite looking forward to knowing when baby's coming etc., and frankly to not having to go through labour which is painful(!). Not to say that a csection isn't, but I haven't done that before, so I'm blissfully naive.

Seraphim, I'm quite pleased to hear what you said about not having many kicks with anterior placenta. I'm the same. I'm sure that last time by this point my DP could feel baby kicking through my sides, this time I can't really even feel it with my hands. Mind you, the leftover bump from DS probably isn't helping mute out the   small baby action... Hey guys,

Hope everyone's doing well. I've just tried again to join the FB group so hopefully I'll be more chatty once I'm set up there :-)

We had our 20-week scan on Thursday and all is looking good, though bubs wasn't being particularly cooperative so I have to go back again for them to get some more angles of its feet - which it was hiding away down by my hip bone somewhere from what I could tell! Doesn't worry me as I get to see bubs again :-)

I'd not been feeling any kicks or anything despite being 20 weeks and suspected I had an anterior placenta - which the scan confirmed. I'm sure it won't be long until I start feeling some movement though, the baby - and my belly - are certainly growing fast enough!

Oh well, think of the positives, so much easier to plan when you already have a toddler. You wont have to contend with the midnight dash to the hospital, or worrying about who will look after your son etc etc That's what I'm consoling myself with anyway !
