OMG I am having same issues with my ten mth old at the moment. at about 12mths my boy pretty much stopped eating for 3mths. i remember for lunch i'd make a 1slice marmite sandwich, fold it over cut into triangles and he wouldn't eat 1/2 of it.
then all of a sudden one day he started eating again.
i agree with the back off, and don't give in if he's asking for sweets/treats instead (though he may not be talking yet)

My son didn't seem to eat much solid food until he was about 1. I always felt like he should be eating more because it sounded like everyone else's kids were, so feeding him was quite stressful for me until I decided to "give up" and just give him some age appropriate finger foods on his tray and leave him to it. Most of it would end up on the floor or squished in his hands but he gradually got the hang of it and eats heaps now.

Also perhaps just try offering finger foods at no set times through out the day. DS still isn't interested in morning or afternoon tea so I wouldn't worry about that if I was you. He also didn't eat 3 meals until he was almost 1, and even now sometimes just doesn't want to eat as he isn't hungry and I don't force him to (cos I can't). If they aren't hungry then they won't eat. Why not try and drop a meal and see how you go. From what I've heard some babies just aren't interested in food until they are almost 1 or bit older.
Remember (and I heard this from Maya who has posted above ) food is fun until they are 1. hey if you drop a meal now, you will save yourself some grief, and the two of you can enjoy mealtimes instead of getting tied up in knots. It is not the end of the world, chances are in a couple of weeks he will be hungrier again.

if it is becoming a battle, then my advice would be to back off. Is he teething or has he been sick? Has he just started moving?

Drop back the number of times you are offering foods, and drop back the volumes. There is no point in forcefeeding a baby, they will just puke it back at you and both of you will end up in tears.

He is not really capable of being 'stubborn', it may be more like that he just isn't as hungry as you think he should be. His appetite will change over the months, he will probably get really hungry again later.
