When DS had gastro around that age the diarrhea lasted about 7-10 days and he had stopped vomiting a few days before that.

We took him to the after hours doctor as it started on a Friday and he was very, very ill by the Sunday and were also given pedialyte and advised not to give any milk whatsoever for 24 hours then reintroduce feeds slowly, as said above, dehydration was the main concern. Also the vomiting/diarrhea got better with no milk in his tummy.

Obviously completely different situation, but definitely go back to your GP or after hours doctor if you're worried. I hope he gets better soon!

If they haven't then you should ask for a lab form and get one done. That way they can exclude anything more serious than a virus.
DS has trouble with diarrhoea and it was recommended to not give formula for at least 24hrs, or if we had to give it then give half strength formula. We were also prescribed pedialyte and used that instead of formula to keep ds hydrated. The withhold formula or give half strength was on starships recommendation. When we didn't give formula for 24hrs he got better very quickly.
If he has 8 hrs between wet nappies (as per healthlines advice), or fever high and won't go down or you are worried then take him back to the gp.

Babies can get very dehydrated and very sick very quickly. Dont hesitate to take him back again if he not having the usual ammount of wet nappys, his fever is high and wont go down with pamol, or the symptoms arent improving soon.
Viruses can take that long tho.

I took him to the dr and the said it was probably a viral infection. Well his fever disappeared a day later, and he started drinking his milk again. Since then though, he has been picky on his food ( sometimes refusing altogether and sometimes eating well), he has also continued to have diarrhea on and off and two days ago his fever came back. It was not high but today got to 39 so i took him to after hours dr who checked him out and said it could still be the virus, this is a week and a half later.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? I know if its a virus we have to wait it out, but how long should it go on for, im just worried it might be more serious and no tests are being done.
