I can't believe it is the main product they give out in perinatal wards! Argh! Zaara must have good skin.

Huggies seems to be a lot gentler... I used the sensitive stuff on Han (samples from the P&C show) before cutting out everything.

For cradle cap - if you want something that smells a bit better than Olive Oil - get some almond oil. Their little heads are trying to grow hair and it clogs the pores and give them terrible dry scalp. Lot's of moisturiser if you have some J&J's baby lotion that does the trick, every night after the bath. Just leave the hair washing and wet it with the scented bath water for a few weeks (assuming you have scented bath water). I've only washed Olivia's hair with the J&J Lavender BB last night for the first time in about 4 months and no problems.
I've tried to avoid switching brands when Olivia's skin is so used to this product as it might cause a rash. I actually switched fabric softners (from the regular one I use to a freebie I got when Olivia was born), and it makes her face break out in little dots when I've used the bibs that were washed in it!

Edited by Peace

My midwife and the plunket nurse have commented that it isn't particularly good. We use mustela baby wash - a little goes a long way.
For cradle cap, olive oil works really well - you massage it in and use a soft brush to remove the loose scaley bits. If you want to go the more expensive route, you can also buy Mother-Wells's 'Cap It off' from chemists or health stores. It's a blend of natural emolients and doesn't smell so much like you should add garlic and pasta...

We were recommended to use almond oil for massage etc.

We also bought the Huggies body lotion (the lavender one) and Maddie has been fine with that so we're going to stick with that now. She seems fine with the J&J bath stuff but we also so had some samples of the Huggies bath stuff and again that seemed great on her skin.

What is it again that you do for that?? Is it baby oil on it overnight then shampoo it off or something? And also what baby products do you guys recommend? I have been using J & J as that is all I had and I have been told that it is very drying on baby's skin. Thanks!!
